‘I AM STILL SENATE PRESIDENT’
Alan Peter Cayetano maintains that he’s still the Senate President as he reads the Senate rules at the Senate on Thursday.
“The term of the office of the [Senate] President, sa ngayon po ako ‘yun. The President Pro Tempore, sa ngayon si Senator Loren Legarda ‘yun…” he said. (Video by Ryan Baldemor/The Philippine STAR)
These journalists risked their lives to cover the Senate chaos last month tapos tatawagin lang sila ng isang Senador na “bayaran”?
Takot, trauma, nerbyos ang inabot nila tapos tatawagin lang na bayaran????????? TALAGA??????
‘HUWAG N’YO PO KAMING ALALAHANIN, OK PO AKO’
Senate President Alan Cayetano assured the public that he is “OK” despite the chamber’s revamp that led to the election of Senator Win Gatchalian as the new Senate president pro tempore on Wednesday.
Gatchalian was also declared the acting Senate president, a move strongly questioned and described by Cayetano as an “illegal” coup.
“They can try to remove me. They can kill me, but they will not kill the idea of a democratic Philippines,” he said in a Facebook Live.
‘THE FILIPINO PEOPLE DESERVE A GOVERNMENT FOCUSED ON SOLVING PROBLEMS’
Vice President Sara Duterte said the government has become “more preoccupied with protecting power than serving the people,” citing alleged attempts to silence critics.
“A government that fears dissent is not demonstrating strength. It is revealing insecurity. And that insecurity is reflected in the direction our country is taking today,” Duterte remarked in a video statement Tuesday.
Duterte cited the flood control controversy, her impeachment trial, and the charter change, saying those issues revealed “disturbing realities.”
“The current state of our nation reveals three disturbing realities: first, the effort to divert attention from legitimate questions surrounding the flood control controversy; second, the willingness to disregard constitutional safeguards in pursuit of a politically motivated impeachment; and third, the relentless pursuit of greater political power under the guise of Charter Change,” she claimed.
Duterte formally responded to impeachment articles on Monday, as the Senate is set to begin the trial on July 6, 2026.

Lahat kayo mga walang malasakit sa taumbayan. Walang paninindigan.
