They say books won’t change the world. Tell that to every colonizer who burned them. To every enslaved person who was punished for reading. Literacy is resistance. Literacy is liberation. The library is a battlefield.
"Women have always had equal rights." Meanwhile — when anesthesia was first invented, doctors weren't allowed to give it to women in labor because the church declared that the pain of childbirth was God's punishment for sleeping with men. Let that sit for a second.
The cycle-breaking daughter no longer accepts “keeping the family together” as work assigned only to women.
She does not organise every festival while the men arrive as guests.
Repair every sibling relationship.
Remember each elder’s medicine.
Call relatives who have never learnt to call her.
A family held together by one woman’s memory, time and guilt is not naturally close. It is being continuously maintained by someone whose labour disappears each time the gathering looks effortless.
There is a video of Delhi police personnel assaulting a Woman Protester. Soon after the video went viral, A few started claiming that the name of the police personnel is Inspector Prakash Meena.
Fact : He is NOT Prakash Meena, But some other Police personal. Prakash Meena was present on the protest side but was wearing plain clothes. Not Police uniform.
Don't spread misinformation. Police will file FIRs for sharing such unverified claims..
Conscious Crime.
It is so heartbreaking. Students are already killing themselves because of the government and now they are also giving trauma to young girls in 20s.
The Delhi Police intentionally attacked the private parts of girls, this is a shameful act by the police.
Responsible police officer should be dismissed.
Saw a reel with a kid filming a cop running after him with a lathi captioned “bro thought he could outrun me” with “bhaag DK Bose” playing in the backdrop.
These babies are insane in the best possible way 😀
Dear students of India, after all this settles down, please ask accountability from your parents too. They are the ones who chose and will again choose this poisonous govt. Revolution must start from home.
there’s a lot of literature on why viewing feminism as a choice in a patriarchal society is dangerous. feminism at its core is about liberation, not choice.
To accept that you were grossly wrong for over a decade is not easy to accept.
Hard core sanghis will dig in their boots and continue to chant 'all is good!' Even their own children getting beaten up will not bend them. Most probably that's how they've treated their children at home. It's all for a better tomorrow, they'll say. The radicalism is so deeply entrenched.
STOP calling the gov & police "hijda" "napunsak" or "namard" REFUSE IT. because every time we use these names, we tell a marginalized community that their identity is the worst thing u can call someone. a revolution that borrows the oppressors language hasnt broken away from it
Harela on one hand, Jungle Cutting on other hand:
It is deeply ironic that the Uttarakhand Government is preparing to celebrate Harela, the festival of trees, nature & ecological harmony while at the same time, thousands of mature trees are being felled along the Rishikesh–Bhaniyawala highway during the monsoon.
I urge the Office of the CM, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami to take urgent cognisance of this matter & direct NHAI & Forest Department to postpone the felling of these precious trees until after the monsoon.
The current decision-making reminds me of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar's immortal lines:
दुर्योधन वह भी दे न सका,
आशीष समाज की ले न सका उलटे,
हरि को बाँधने चला,
जो था असाध्य, साधने चला
जब नाश मनुज पर छाता है,
पहले विवेक मर जाता है।
I hope the Government will listen to the voice of the people & act in the larger interest of Uttarakhand's forests & wildlife.
