@zoesqwilliams I’m mother to a birth child and an adopted child. Adopted daughter has FASD. Her (and our) lives are blighted by brain damage caused by alcohol. I was asked about smoking and diet when pregnant with eldest and was more than happy to answer, can’t see the difference with alcohol?

@katewills @thetimes2 @harrywalker1 The reason it’s vitally important that this is recorded is because kids with FASD rarely get a diagnosis without it. This is devastating as they have brain damage and are left to face the system without support. FASD can be caused by ONE drink.

@katewills @thetimes2 @harrywalker1 As the mother of an adopted daughter with FASD I wish I could sympathise with the guilt you feel placed upon you. I also gave birth to a child and would have had no issue with being asked. I was asked about smoking and drugs and diet so why the issue with this?
