개인적으로 테슬라의 v14 Lite 배포는 휴머노이드 전개에서도 중요한 노하우 자산이 될 것으로 봅니다.

HW3 소유자에게 제공되는 성능 확장에는 분명 한계가 있습니다.

다만 이번 배포의 핵심은 HW4에서 학습된 상위 모델의 행동 지능을 낮은 하드웨어 환경에 맞게 증류하고, 이를 OTA를 통해 기존 플릿에 다시 배포했다는 점입니다.

휴머노이드 역시 대량 배치 단계로 가면 최신 하드웨어와 구형 하드웨어가 혼재될 수밖에 없습니다.

이때 중요한 것은 모든 로봇을 최신 사양으로 교체하는 것이 아니라, 상위 모델에서 학습한 보행 등 행동제어/상황판단 능력을 저사양 로봇에도 내려보낼 수 있는가입니다.

결국 테슬라가 FSD에서 축적하고 있는 자산은자율주행 모델이 아니라, 대규모 엣지 디바이스 플릿을 학습시키고, 압축하고, 배포하고, 다시 데이터를 회수하는 운영 체계입니다.

이 구조가 휴머노이드로 확장된다면, Optimus의 경쟁력은 개별 로봇의 성능만이 아니라 배치된 전체 로봇군이 시간이 지날수록 함께 진화하는 능력에서 나올 수 있다고 생각합니다.

솔직히 말도 안되는 수준의 엔지니어링이라고 봅니다.
지금 많은 기업들이 도입 중인 Thor/Orin과 AI3 (이제는 HW3라고 안하네요)를 비교하면 AI3는 사용이 불가능한 수준의 chip 입니다. 그런데 이런 chip으로 이정도로 높은 수준의 자율주행을 구현했다는게 믿어지지가 않습니다.

v14 Lite Release Notes:

– Distilled the intelligence from HW4 V14 into HW3. This allows HW3 to directly learn how to handle scenarios using HW4 V14 as a guide. This process unlocks the improvements that have been made to HW4 including Reinforcement Learning (RL) and offline models for HW3.

– Improved both proactive and reactive responsiveness across a wide variety of categories including navigation handling, merges and forks, pedestrian interactions, traffic lights, and vehicle cut-in scenarios.

– Improved general comfort in nominal scenarios through fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering and more consistent lane centering.

– Introduced parking, unparking, and reversing capabilities.

– Added Arrival Options for you to select where FSD should park: in a Parking Lot, on the Street, in a Driveway, or at the Curbside.

– Speed Profiles are now available at all times, to further customize driving style preference.

FSD v14 Lite is now rolling out to AI3 early-access customers. Based on the feedback, will rollout to more customers over the next few weeks.

This build distills the driving behavior from AI4’s v14 series into both the camera and compute config of AI3. It includes destination options and speed profiles on city roads, but more importantly significantly improved safety.

We hope you’ll enjoy it, once the build ships wide.
