Amref joined @MOH_Kenya and partners to validate guidelines that will integrate nurturing care into Primary Health Care—helping children not only survive, but thrive.

In Nyamira, 450 CHVs trained with Amref’s support are already taking nurturing-care messages directly to families.

HPV & CANCER RISKS
HPV is the most Common cause of STI and can cause:
👉🏿Genital Warts.
👉🏿Cervical, Vaginal, Vulvar Cancer in women
👉🏿Penile, anal and throat cancers in men.
Most HPV infections clear up on their own, but vaccination is key.

🏐 In Mutuini Ward, sport became a platform for improving adolescent health and wellbeing.

Through the Center Court Africa Project, @Amref_Kenya transformed a two-day inter-school sports bonanza into an opportunity to connect adolescents with the health information and services they need to thrive.

Between matches, learners from six junior secondary schools took part in open conversations on mental health, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (#SRHR), nutrition, life skills, positive masculinity, gender-based violence, and drug and substance abuse. They also discussed real-life challenges including bullying, peer pressure, relationships and academic stress.

The impact:
✔️ 77 adolescents reached with group health education.
✔️ 14 adolescents received individual psychosocial support and referrals for continued care.
✔️ 152 adolescents received nutrition assessments.
✔️ 4 girls were vaccinated against HPV.

Sport is more than a game—it creates trusted spaces where young people can learn, ask questions and access the support they need.

Together, we're helping adolescents build healthier futures—on and off the court.

The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) is pleased to announce a new grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation, awarded through the Foundation's Movements of People and Non-State Actors initiative.

The three-year research and policy engagement initiative, "Inclusive Economic Integration for Migrant and Displaced African Youth: Learning from East and West Africa," will be implemented in partnership with the African Migration and Development Policy Centre (AMADPOC).

The project will generate policy-relevant evidence from Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and Sierra Leone on how governments, private sector actors, civil society and communities can better support migrant and displaced young people to access employment, entrepreneurship, skills development and other pathways to economic inclusion.

We look forward to working with partners across the region to translate evidence into practical solutions for youth-centred migration and development policy.
