In 2013, four Indiana Democrats were CONVICTED for forging those signatures — literally copying names off old petitions. Even a former governor’s name was forged. County Democratic Chairman Butch Morgan went to PRISON for orchestrating it.
The thing they swore “never happens”…
HAPPENED.
And a party chairman did hard time for it.
Election fraud isn’t a “conspiracy theory.”
It’s a documented crime.
And they got away with it long enough to change history.

Wow, the former mayor of McKinney, Texas is trying to intimidate Texans from signing the recall. You can’t make this up. (See pics below for his post).

This post is exactly why McKinney residents should pay very close attention.

Nobody has accused these council members of committing a “crime,” and committing a crime is not the standard for citizens exercising the recall power provided by their own city charter. Recall is a political accountability mechanism given to the voters. McKinney’s charter specifically provides citizens the power to pursue recall.

What is disturbing is the repeated emphasis in this post on the fact that the names and addresses of petition signers may become public, followed by warnings that people who sign should be prepared to “stand publicly behind” their decision and “be accountable for the consequences.”

Why emphasize that so heavily?

Residents already know that signing a petition is a public civic act. Texas public-information law generally provides access to governmental records, subject to applicable exceptions. (per the Texas Attorney General)

But there is a tremendous difference between informing citizens that a petition may become a public record and repeatedly stressing their names, addresses, employers, community reputation and supposed “consequences” while they are deciding whether to exercise a lawful political right.

Texans can decide for themselves what that sounds like. #Intimidation

And let’s correct another talking point: the question is not whether the council members committed a crime. Voters are entitled to judge their elected representatives on their decisions, their responsiveness to constituents and whether they still deserve to hold office. That is precisely why recall provisions exist.

If the council’s decision was legally required, then make that argument. Present the ordinance. Present the site-plan requirements. Present the legal authority. Let residents examine it and decide.

But don’t try to make citizens feel that exercising a charter-protected recall right somehow makes them responsible for damaging McKinney.

Holding elected officials accountable is not an attack on democracy. It is democracy.

The people who signed these petitions should not be shamed, singled out or made to fear exercising their lawful political rights.

If McKinney’s elected officials truly believe they acted correctly, they should welcome the debate and trust the voters to make the final judgment.

Don’t intimidate the electorate. Make your case to them. This is absolutely shameful!
