This week saw the first sanma (Pacific saury) catch for the annual season being unloaded in Onagawa! 🐟
Residents are now enjoying this fresh fish at home and in local restaurants. Lots of local festivals feature the fish in fall, with the biggest one in Onagawa in October.
As of yet, there has been no official guidance issued publicly by the Japanese government on what procedures will look like in such cases, therefore please be sure to do your due diligence before your trip to avoid any unnecessary hiccups.
If you were issued a visa prior to the pandemic that has now expired, we recommend calling the Japanese embassy/consulate in your country to find out if there are any measures in place for re-issuing of these visas or whether a new application is required.
