To the Linda Mwananchi Patriots and anyone going about their business tomorrow in Nairobi, the CBD is OPEN !

There is no law giving the Nairobi Police Commander unrestricted power to simply declare the entire Nairobi CBD to be “out of bounds” because of a political rally or unspecified “planned disruptions.”

We went to the High Court in 2025 for this reason and it was held that a blanket restriction of assembly in the Nairobi CBD is invalid and unconstitutional. The court insisted that such a blanket restriction must have a clear legal basis and satisfy the constitutional proportionality test under Article 24.

What the police should focus on is providing security to our patriots ama tujilinde kama Linda Mwananchi.
