Louisiana’s increase in accountability, use of progress monitoring data, and commitment to truly evidence-based curriculum is something other states should replicate.
I had the opportunity to support an elementary and middle school in Louisiana, as well as teach university courses in a teacher preparation program there for some time. Every time I came back to NY after a trip to Louisiana, I would tell other educators, to watch Louisiana… they would bypass other states one day soon in reading and math. It’s great to see the results now speaking for themselves.
