The conversion rate for direct freekicks in professional football is low, typically ranging from 5% to 10%. In Kombans' first home match against Kannur Warriors, Vicky Maria successfully converted his freekick into a goal!
Enjoy this powerful outing by Vicky, this Saturday evening!

🎗️Together for a Cause 🎗️
KIMSHealth joined hands with the Kombans, made even more special by the presence of our guest, multi-faceted social enabler and cancer survivor @Nishajose6, to spread awareness about cancer, the importance of early detection and to stand in solidarity with fighters, survivors and their families.
An inspiring evening of unity, hope and support — because awareness saves lives. 💪🏻🩷

#MondayMusings | The football fever has hit Kerala since the last week of September 2025 with the start of the Season 2 of the Super League Kerala. In the last two Kombans home matches in Thiruvananthapuram, we have an appreciable turnout of youngsters and wannabe footballers cheering their mentors as they sweat it out to get the increasingly elusive goal.
This post goes out to all such young aspiring footballers.
Football is a shorter game as compared to cricket which spans several hours or days at a stretch. A football match gets over in 90-100 minutes, leaving room for any extra time!
However, soccer, as the game is also widely known, requires greater endurance training as it includes various kinds of movement on the pitch - walking, jogging, running or sprinting.
We did some digging up and here's what we found. An average footballers runs 6.2 miles per game whereas a goalkeeper runs around 3 miles in a game. Studies have also found that "most players walk, jog or run 70-80% of the distance they cover in a game, 10-20% is at a moderate to fast pace, and less than 10% is very fast."
In the thrill of the watching the game, one tends to forget the ubiquitous referee and remember this key component only when they stop to intervene or enforce the rules of the game. The referee has to run the farthest, which as per studies, is 7.2 miles per game.
Now, the choice is yours, which category player you want to be!
Watch out for the next edition of #MondayMusings!
