The date for this week's NEICAAA Championship at Hopkinton (NH) Fairgrounds has been moved to FRIDAY (Oct. 11). Tufts' women will race at 3:30 PM and the Jumbo men will start at 4:15 PM.

I think this is the part about the Zach Lowe decision that set me off -- it's the treating NBA viewers like they're dumber than shit. I'm going to break character again just to talk about the subject of feminine hygiene products in schools. If you read a bit, you know I was a middle school public school teacher in Chicago for 25 years.

I know what it's like to have a girl have her very first period in my class and I know how tough it was for them to come up to the male teacher when they had a problem. I found ways to hide blood on chairs by claiming they were broken until I had a free period and could get the chair cleaned and sanitized. I started keeping pads in my desk and let girls know where to find them so they could deal with it quickly and return to learning.

I can't say I experienced it myself, but I saw amazing young people dealing with a new situation and tried to make it as comfortable as possible and without adding to their stress let them know it was just a normal part of life. If those couple of Tweets offender or brought back harrowing moments from your youth, I do apologize. My humor was an attempt to highlight a ridiculously bad GOP talking point.

I know it bothers some followers when I break character, but the people who don't bother reading my bio won't read my old Tweets.
