This is by far the most important bit of what made the final cut from my 60 Minutes interview.
There are SO MANY no-brainer, low-hanging-fruit ways we should be making our existing communities better. Other countries do it. We can too.
“I really dislike the bunker narratives because it takes away from the conversation that we should be having, which is how do we make our existing homes and our existing communities more resilient?” John Ramey tells @jon_wertheim. https://t.co/4n05LHqx21
Today's @NewYorker about prepping for civil war features @Prep4Disasters@Goblinmerchant and I. If you ignore the clickbait prepper-porn parts, there's some important points about the polycrisis, civil contract, redress as a relief valve for violence, etc. https://t.co/KnRHit4ljV
@benkohlmann@johnkonrad Yep! Not only that, but the good people doing it on their own are often punished for it... and then the learnings are lost anyway. Part of what I pushed for at DIU was to create a career accelerator / reward for those folks, not a punishment / island of misfits.
Much of the AI wave in recent years has been underwhelming. But this is a solid use case. When a prominent, data-heavy company like AT&T can just hit "go" on an AI product and it creates a $100M ROI, there will be some huge startup exits in this segment.
Big News: AT&T has found over $100M using Unsupervised's AI Agents.
This makes them one of the first companies to show bottom-line success with AI Agents and we are proud to be a part of it!
Check the thread: I'll share a bit about how we're doing this + a link to see more.
@JasonYanowitz To your note... I was innovation advisor to the WH and created the Defense Innovation Unit at the DOD, which is supposed to be the group that would rapid iterate on this stuff.
You're right to be skeptical.
@mrmichaelreed Thanks for the kind words Michael! It was acquired by a group that focuses on e-learning verticals for personal 'hobbies' like art, music, and prepping.
@shl@rrhoover @charliebitda @photomatt We built a funded company this way over the last 5 years and solved this using "profits interest" in an LLC, which you can manipulate into what the lawyers referred to as "ghost equity" that functions similar to C corp option grants.
@rrhoover@tylertringas Here's some more musings on this from a few years back from @randfish https://t.co/iQhVbV6F5Q and myself https://t.co/AIp1O0VFn3
@kevinleeme Research indicates yours is a common perspective pre-kids, but then evolutionary/involuntary rewiring of the brain happens once you have kids and the answer changes.
@vc@ssankar Besides free cash, the primes need a meaningful cultural shift too, to embrace growth through strategic-premium acquisitions. Too much of the "we don't need no stinkin' help" attitudes there today.
The relationship between U.S. defense and Silicon Valley is undergoing its most profound transformation since the 1950s.
I spoke to 5 investors to get their thoughts on this historic shift: @jamoses92, @vc, @davidu, Raj Shah & Josh Manchester https://t.co/gyBkCVj8tu
