Congrats to my former HS teammate and lifelong friend @reichert_mark for being named the new Southside softball coach. Piled up 165 wins between stops at Muldrow and Pocola.
"God’s grace works through us.
God’s power displays through us.
God’s mercy extends through us.
God’s purpose fulfills through us.
Therefore there is no ground for boasting in ourselves.
Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord” (1 Cor. 1:31).”

Experiencing the parent-side of online learning. It’s 9:30am, and all 3 of my kids have required parent support. Has me thinking about kids without support right now. Educators, above all else, please show grace, patience and flexibility during this time.
Now is not the time for robust and rigorous lessons for remote learning. It is the time for authentic engagement and connection. It is the time for compassion, modeling resilience, and checking in for checking in's sake.
Let kids and families know you are there.

In one of the most uncertain weeks many of us can remember,
This is our prayer:
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Ps 4:8).
This is our promise:
“He neither slumbers nor sleeps” (Ps 121:4).
While we’re asleep, He’s not!
There are two types of toughness: Physical toughness is your ability to perform through physical discomfort for the betterment of someone else.
Mental toughness is your ability to do what’s in the best interest of your team when it conflicts with what’s best for yourself.
Sanctification changes the language of prayer.
The deeper we plunge into God's grace the more in-line our prayers become with the will of God.
Our selfishness desires mere freedom from trials, while God is saying, "I want to teach you something about myself through the trial."
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.”
Psalm 91:1-2

I love this! "Factors outside our control only frame the context for our response!" Collective teacher efficacy, student expectations, and teacher expectations far outweigh the negative impact of outside factors according to John Hattie's work on effect size. Be the difference!
What produces anxiety worry, and fear in us, has none of the same effect on the Lord who sits on the throne above it all and who, by grace, is our Heavenly Father.
