@BeschlossDC My grandfather, living in NYC, told me that on that day he pulled into a gas station to fill up. No attendant came out. He waited and waited. Then blew his horn. An attendant ran out and said “the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor”. He said he had no idea where Pearl Harbor was.
@StevieVanZandt I saw him opening for Buddy Guy this summer. Phenomenal guitarist, quoting everyone from Page to Hendrix and beyond. And a nice guy who hangs out at his merch table afterward.
@stevesi I was the lead editor/organizer of that 1997 piece. As a Wired feature editor I wrote the intro and herded the cats. Looking back, the list was both prescient (predicting Apple stores) and way off (suggesting Apple ditch its hardware business). But really fun to revisit.
@springsteen I was there at the Worcester Centrum the night that tour began. Bruce changed things around a lot - even down to where band members typically stood - but delivered a great show.
@StevieVanZandt I went to the Dylan and Woody Guthrie museums the morning after your excellent show. It was filled with folks who saw Bruce and the ESB the night before. What a great musical through line: Guthrie-Dylan-Springsteen. And this weekend I see Ramblin’ Jack Elliot. Quite a week.
@stevesilberman@thedavidcrosby@osirispod The man is gone but the music, words, and spirit will live forever. Thanks for giving us more insight into the mighty David Crosby.
@SimoneStolzoff On my birthday, I do something I’ve never done before. This has ranged from walking across the Golden Gate Bridge to parachuting and riding an e-bike.
@grivlin@BeschlossDC I remember watching JFK’s funeral on TV too, with my family in the living room. The big booming drums and the clopping of the horse’s hooves on pavement still sticks in my mind.
@MRuggieriUSAT@springsteen I love Bruce but the timing feels off for an album of covers. Too much crazy stuff going on in the world. I’d like to see Bruce write about that, rather than do a cover of “Nightshift”.
