"Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country."
After my grandpa fixed a typewriter or printer, he would type that as the test page. I first read that from him when I was probably 10. It has always stuck with me, and is more appropriate today than ever.
About 7 years ago @MSNBC stopped by our farm. After a long interview of me explaining my libertarian/agnostic/ultra conservative view of agriculture and politics they took 1 quote from the interview asking about my view of trumps 2019 MFP payments
“Any monkey can write a check”
Our farm operation has been one of the most conservative minded in the area. We’ve squeezed the nickel so hard we grew 🌽 off its 💩, I’ve farmed with old, paid for equipment most of my life. Debt just wasn’t ever an option so we just did without.
The local community… (farmer round table) called me a “liberal”… apparently since Libertarianism sounds like… liberal IDK, and anybody that doesn’t 🦜 @FoxNews is that…
7 years later a golden tractor is in the White House lawn next to the new Ball Room. @NutrienAgRetail just reported record profits and farms are struggling like the early - mid 80’s
Check out https://t.co/5xg5rbu7z1 if you want to see what narcissism looks like.
We don’t need another check or a loan. We need real conservative solutions.
Slash all subsidies. Let the market figure this shit out…. But we’re so deeply fucked up that it would be pretty painful for a time until things balanced out.
You can’t just keep buying votes. We don’t need more 🌽. We need 🥩 processing in every county
We need the mathematics of independently owned 🐖
We need Agriculture to work again like it did before politicians let the corporations pad their pockets at the expense of the family farm.
Farm Credit selling crop insurance is an irreconcilable conflict and I simply do not understand how it is permissible.
“If you would like to borrow money from us, you can’t grow anything with our money except the segment of crops that are suitably insurable, because we need you to protect us against a crop failure. Also, we will sell you the insurance.”
That model does not support farmers and ranchers growing food and fiber to feed and clothe America. It treats farmers and ranchers as a host organism by which to soak as much money as possible to benefit everyone but the farmer and rancher.
Crop insurance is an important tool. This particular aspect is tomfoolery.
@JoshSchick3 First off you would have to believe that they actually use the data from the survey.
We already know the numbers in the Jan report are fabricated, so why would the numbers in the March report be true?
Everything is a lie and/or manipulated when it comes to government "reports"
Subsidizing farmers is the worst thing for agriculture. The chem companies depend on these handouts, the fert companies depend on these handouts, the equipment companies depend on these handouts and the farmer becomes dependent on these handouts. It inflates land prices to unrealistic levels and in the end the farmer loses everything.
Good free trade policy wins.
Listen to these old hog farmers talk about how they were put out of business, then they did the same thing to the chicken farmers, now they are trying to do the same thing to the cattle farmers.
They want everything controlled by just a few corporations.
Bing back small farms.
🚨 “They funded my competition and killed my market.”
Trump’s Treasury gave $40 BILLION to Argentina — where Cargill is king.
U.S. farmers? Still selling below cost.
Don’t listen to what they say. Watch what they do.
🚨 The TRUTH about farm bailouts is OUT—and it’s worse than you think. 🚨
Over the last 8 years, the U.S. government has sent $130 BILLION in emergency aid to farmers.
Sounds good, right?
WRONG. The money isn’t going to farmers—it’s going straight to BIG CORPORATIONS. 💸
Here’s how it works:
Farmers like Adam and Scott get a "bailout."
But that money immediately goes to the corporations they owe for seeds, fertilizer, machinery—anything they need to farm.
Meanwhile, the cost of those inputs has TRIPLED since the 90s. 😡
Farmers are paying WAY MORE for the same things. But the prices they get for their crops? Barely enough to cover it. They’re breaking even at best. 💔
But the mega-corporations? They’re raking in huge profits. 💰
Monsanto and Bayer merged in 2015—and no one stopped them.
Now, a handful of companies control almost everything—seeds, fertilizer, machinery.
Let’s break it down:
Farmers might gross $500/acre.
But they’re paying $490 for inputs.
That’s how these companies inflate prices and squeeze farmers dry. 😤
And when farmers can’t make ends meet? These same corporations go to YOU—the taxpayer—for a bailout. 🤯
Instead of lowering prices, they’re laundering your tax dollars to keep their profits sky-high. 💸
The ag industry is a multi-billion dollar scam.
The government is just letting it happen. 😡
Farmers deserve better. It’s time to fight back and take control of our food system.
We the People must defend farmers, demand real reform, and break up these monopolies before they destroy the heart of American agriculture. ✊
Farmers need our support. Let's make our voices heard. 📢
Farmers don’t want to hear this …. But not getting trump bucks is probably what you most desperately need so you don’t plant 100m acres of corn next year.
