Is this photo from the weird 2024 tableau of you and Kamala on the balcony with everyone watching and debating whether you just had regular old man hubris vs total psycho hubris
Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of Americans signed their names to a piece of parchment and made a promise no nation had ever made before: that we're all created equal, endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights — life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We're the only nation in history built not on ethnicity, or blood, or geography but on an idea. That's always been what makes us exceptional. We chose that path 250 years ago but that’s where the work began, not where it ended. Every generation has had to choose it again. At Valley Forge, at Gettysburg, on the beaches of Normandy, in the streets of Selma. Americans recommitted themselves to the principles on which our nation was founded.
Now it's our turn.
There's nothing guaranteed about our democracy. We have to fight for it, defend it, and earn it. Over and over, year after year. That's not a burden. That's what it means to be an American.
250 years in, we still haven't fully lived up to those words in the Declaration. But we've never walked away from them, and this July 4, I hope all of us can commit to one thing: that we never will. I don't believe we're as divided as we're told we are. I've bet my whole life on the American people, and I'm not stopping now.
Happy 250th birthday, America. Our story isn't finished. Let's keep writing it together.

“Collaboration with the President and Congress is very important to our city.
I am confident we can find common ground for continuing to make DC a vibrant successful city we can all be proud of for the next 250 years” @nbcwashington
With what happened with Buttigieg I want to say to those of us working in the public eye:
Have a plan and know what to do if you get a knock.
Have a lawyer already chosen (I have one who works in Maryland and DC and happy to share his contact).
The lack of due process parents get in CPS investigations is truly astonishing.
You either let the state run roughshod over your rights, or you resist, and risk having that perceived as evidence of guilt.
Be careful who you bring into your life. (I would say, in particular, be careful of older women from the Anglophone Caribbean.) But ultimately there is nothing you can do other than to prepare.
Listen to me very carefully: if you are a gay male couple with children, you will have to deal with this 100%. Learn the process in your jurisdiction. Identify an attorney you can call. Prepare in advance and understand this will happen to you.
This happened to my family, prompted by a random acquaintance who made false allegations against me. It happened to my best friend, false allegations by a day care worker. It happened to another friend, also a day care worker. It happened to a cousin, false report by a neighbor.
2028 Dem primary is legitimately going to be hell on earth. It is going to make 2020 look quaint. Josh Shapiro will be called a slur. Andy Beshear is going to be called a génocidaire for not supporting BDS. Gavin Newsom might get attacked on stage. None of you are ready.
.@BrianneKNadeau makes it official: no wealth tax plan in the budget vote tomorrow, but she does plan to introduce a standalone version before the July recess to be debated this fall.
She's targeting couples making over $500k with the tax, thinks it'd generate $100m annually.
