@Dragonflynda@kerrydougherty “…not intended by our Founding Fathers.” — Until 1913, state legislators appointed US senators. They weren’t even elected for the first 125 years under our constitution.
@skumWgmi Your property taxes are intended for services in your community that you benefit from (fire, police, roads, schools). It’s a way to allocate resources so you don’t have to be an unpaid fireman, police officer, teacher, and road worker all while feeding and housing yourself
@libsoftiktok Events in public spaces are not “exclusive use”; the permits do not make the space a private. Permits only allow a large crowd &/or commercial business on public’s land. If was exclusive, the public’s police wouldn’t be the enforcement, the permittee would have to enforce.
@this1s4you@TheCinesthetic Yeah…don’t think the founders would’ve been cool with what you’re likely referring to as progressive. Conservative & limited government, not super inclusive, and didn’t want despotism of globalism.
@GuyTalksFinance Lunch break tends to restore cognitive function, prevents burnout, and fuels body to maintain energy. Research shows-stepping away from your workspace improves afternoon productivity, enhances mental clarity, and helps you make fewer errors compared to working straight through.
@ArchAngia31@RoyIsThaTruth T. Sowell argues the decline of the black community was driven by the expansion of the 1960s welfare state & shift in criminal justice, rather than a legacy of slavery; policies incentivized family breakdown & eroded cultural values & decades of previous economic progress.
@Valstevens24 You don’t feel bad for your generational privilege? Me, I’m feeling tremendously guilty to the land grab we Homo sapiens did to the Neanderthals— see, there is no time limit on my virtue signaling.
@ArchAngia31@RoyIsThaTruth When people came along that ended slavery, they are not the same people that perpetuated it. Why start in 1619? The Native Americans practiced slavery along with everyone on every continent for thousands of years. Britain, France, and US ended it - you’re thankful, I know.
