The great dilemma for presales is keeping up with the speed of sales while delivering the accurate Postsales needs
Visualize a scale - You can't positively impact one (Speed) without negatively impacting the other (Accuracy).
Presales has the opportunity to do both. Here is how
Which is best for your IT Services project? T&M or Fixed Fee?
It's all based on risk!
In Fixed Fee projects, you take on all the risk. If a project is poorly scoped, it could eat you alive.
In a Time and Materials project, the client takes on all the risk.
Creating a feedback loop from delivery is the only way to stay competitive. Let me explain:
- Presales price services with an estimated level of effort (# of hours)
- Postsales delivers the project while tracking ACTUAL hours to complete

I used to google Cisco SoW Automation before any statement of work I wrote. I could never find anything!
So we created a Free Sandbox of our Scoping platform. If you are interested in scoping IT Services faster and more accurately, check it out!

Proposal automation & product CPQs don't combine level of effort and language into one platform. That's a problem if you're selling IT services.
Services CPQ takes care of that by combining proposal automation capabilities with the configuration capabilities of a CPQ.
These parts of your scoping process are really holding you back:
1. All the cutting and pasting in Word
2. Maintaining a huge Excel database for pricing
3. Every SA has their own way of doing things
4. Your pricing is not connected to the language in your SOWs
@JamesKaikis This is funny. I had 3 (maybe 4) different titles in 3 years working in presales. I mean they all made me sound like a genius, so I was okay with it ;)

I once heard @davempayne talking about the idea of an "Earned Secret" and it was so clarifying for me.
For me, this means that: Having worked in the IT Services space for a decade or so, we use spreadsheets and do templates as the main way to price and scope IT services.

I've earned the ability to solve this problem and eventually start @scopestackcpq
Granted, I had already quit my job, and there was no looking back when I heard this; I still think about it to this day.
What "Earned Secret" do you have?
