JUST IN: The House committee on legislative franchises has been directed to look into the issues involving the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), after hosts in a program supposedly aired misleading information against House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

In a privilege speech earlier, Quezon 2nd District Rep. David Suarez said he was able to watch an SMNI program where hosts claimed that Romualdez spent P1.8 billion in just a year for his travels. House Secretary-General Reginald Velasco has denied these reports.

As such, Suarez said the committee should use its oversight function.

A few minutes after Suarez’ speech, the majority moved to direct the House committee to start the probe this Thursday, Nov. 30. It was approved by Deputy Speaker Yasser Alonto Balindong. | @GabrielLaluINQ
