This is how you know you are in the right place and have the best coworkers ever! I walked into work this morning to this. ❤️
A sincere thank you to everyone! My conference was amazing, and I truly loved bragging about our school, our students, our community, and all of you!
It’s official! I accepted my award, Library Innovator of the Year, at the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association Conference. After my acceptance speech, I presented a session for PA school librarians to attend. I was proud to represent @NPSD@PSLA_News
Part 2 of Women’s History Month! We had four women (students' moms) share their careers with us. This is a total of seven different women this week. The students keep asking for more. I highly recommend this activity. If it can impress a group of sixth graders, it’s a keeper!
Part 2 of Women’s History Month! We had three women (students' moms) share their careers with us today. The 6th graders were engaged and asking questions the whole time. We have two more days of speakers, but I think it’s fair to say I’ll be doing this every single year.
Women’s History Month! 6th-grade students completed a short biography project on women in history. They worked with a friend and read a biography book of their choice before writing down fun facts. Tomorrow, we hear women from our community speak to us about their careers!
March Book Madness is off to a good start! We are reading round 2 and voting on our favorites.
Mrs. Johnson joined the fun this year and is having a March Song Madness.
I love it when a new book order comes in. I love even more the faces of students when they receive the brand new book they have been waiting for. Let’s go NW readers! Get that reading completed for our reading challenge.
👍 We finished the 1,000 piece puzzle today! 😁
👎🏻 We are missing five pieces to the puzzle. 😔
👍 I bought a puzzle table to put our next puzzle on to avoid missing pieces.
👎🏻 I don’t have our next puzzle yet.
🤔 What should our next puzzle be?!?
Look at my librarian helper! She chose a special prize that allowed her to help out with any teacher of her choice. She decided she wanted to spend it with me in the library. I had her stamp and date the new library books, assist me in reading to kindergarten, and more!
Day 3 of Read Across America Week! Today was DEAR Day. We had a schoolwide 15-minute reading time, and then we did buddy reading between older and younger students. Nothing makes my librarian heart happier than students sharing the love of reading with one another.
Day 1 of Read Across America Week was a success! Today, we all wore spring-like colors for the theme "Spring into Read Across America Week!" I love seeing all these bright smiling faces!
If you don't already know me, I'm an elementary librarian teaching students K-6. This is my 14th year of teaching in the library and it's the most rewarding job ever. I'm currently going back to school for my second masters in instructional technology.
I am deeply humbled by everyone’s kind words and honored to be receiving this award. As Nick Sirianni says “You can’t be great without the greatness of others.” 😁❤️🏆
I'm beyond excited to share that I won the 2025 Pennsylvania School Library Innovator of the Year Award for Teaching and Learning. I will be accepting my award in April at the @PSLA_News Conference. I will be sure to make @NWElementary, @NPSD, @NPSD_foundation proud!
