Soucy et al. present a powerful strategy to improve the survival & integration of stem cell-derived retinal ganglion cells (RGCs): a big step forward for cell-based therapies for glaucoma & optic neuropathies.
Using the MaxOne HD-MEA system, the team showed that co-delivery with slow-release neurotrophic factors:
🔹Enhanced functional maturation of stem cell-derived RGCs
🔹Increased human RGC survival 15-fold after transplantation in mice

We’re moving to Wisconsin! 🧀 I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be joining @UWMadison_BME as an Assistant Professor in Summer 2026. My lab will focus on developing organ-on-chip models of the visual system and advancing retinal neuron transplantation to restore vision. 👁️
