Not using your real name on the internet is basic internet safety and was the unanimous recommendation up until five minutes after tech companies figured out they could sell your home address and browsing habits for cash money.
My summary of investigating hundreds of ransomware attacks: Users are sensors that need monitoring, not blaming. It wasn't them that gave everyone domain admin, built a flat network, didn't patch Exchange, forgot to enforce MFA, or decided to open RDP to the world.
Our June Download is happening next week!
Ben Armstrong of [redacted] will join us for a look at the ransomware ecosystem, including Ransomware-as-a-service, affiliate programs, initial access brokers and money laundering.

@ChicagoCyber@Malwarebytes Oh, so there's somebody in the secret halls of Iran's cyber operations that apparently needed to let everyone in the world know they're a weeb. Got it.
Surely I'm not the only one wondering why @Malwarebytes outted themselves as a bunch of weebs by calling this apt34 backdoor Saitama. Or do all the other weebs know not to out themselves but I'm dumb enough to publicly make the connection? #opm#weebonweebviolence#cti#apt34
@mal__will @Some_Hooligan Never worry about whether your room is messy or second guess turning on your camera for an urgent call. Spent a short amount of time staging 2-3 backgrounds that reinforce your credibility to folks with different (subconscious or not) biases.
@mal__will @Some_Hooligan Important? ❌ Hackable? ✅ Don't just tidy the room, stage it & take a photo. Use the photo as your virtual background. For best results, stage the room for various audiences (manuals & funko pops for tech convos, travel photos & inspo quotes for leader convos, etc).
@MalwareJake I'd even go more granular.
Tactic > get dressed
Technique > put shoes on
Procedure > bob places the right foot into the shoe and ties a counter-clockwise bow knot and then repeats the process with the left.
We then can identify patterns, like bob always goes counter-clockwise.
Tomorrow I finally get to talk to #ArkanSec about career development for #cybersecurity. Hopefully it will be good for folks looking to enter the field, as well as for established professionals looking for ways to grow. Join us on Discord or in person!
