@AndyBraben@ovsbulleid At Caterham in the late 70s an 8-SUB used to come down ECS after the morning peak M-F and berth in the siding until mid afternoon
@Charing_Steve@ovsbulleid Yes you’re right of course! I’d forgotten about the later small headcode 4-cars, and I had just been reading about the Tyneside units so I jumped in too quickly! Oops!
@ChrisEd43356677@Lost___London They are both London area suburban trains so not from Brighton. Headcodes are hidden otherwise we could tell their routes. The nearer one would be from places like Sutton or Croydon via the BML, and the other via Wimbledon. It's possible both came from Epsom by different routes!
@CllrJRussell46@Rathbone_Market@AboutEG Visibility of the approaching Gatwick-bound bus isn't great there because of trees and the curve. Service works well though; I tried it to and from Gatwick last week.
@KirstieMAllsopp Sinks are in kitchens and double ones are very useful. Bathrooms have one or more washbasins; the need for two of these is questionable.
@AboutEG It’s all my fault; I put in some new rainwater butts just after the last rainy spell and there has hardly been any since so they are still almost empty
@Charing_Steve@Captain_Deltic@stephen37292ML In the 70s they sometimes sent two power cars to Hither Green for attention, working via a service train to/from CX. Acceleration was phenomenal!
@Charing_Steve@Captain_Deltic@HastingsDiesels HMRI tested 1001 on the GN after Hither Green, rather like happened with the Rivers after Sevenoaks. Photo from The Hastings Diesel Story (pub: SEG) by G . Beecroft. Apparently rode much better there than on SR.
