Carson Franc, seldom-used sophomore pitcher, leads Avonworth baseball to PIAA quarterfinal win https://t.co/7R0Or5AyKk

[Jacob Seymour @jseymour3]

Carsons been working his ass off with me! He’s been waiting for this opportunity and didn’t disappoint 💪 Glad to see that hard work paid off @carson_franc

[Mike White @mwhiteburgh]

High school playoffs sometimes bring about great stories of unlikely heroes. For Avonworth, sophomore Carson Franc had pitched very little this year.
But he came on in relief and pitched 6 2/3 innings of no-hit ball to get his FIRST VARSITY WIN!!! in state quarterfinals.

[Keith Barnes @KBarnes_PG]

⁦@AvonworthBB⁩ senior DH snd Ithaca recruit ⁦@LukeZelinko⁩ talks about driving in the championship-winning run in the team's dramatic 4-3, 14-inning win against Riverside for the Lopes first title since 1992.

[Mike White @mwhiteburgh]

And there it is! Avonworth gets popout to end the game.
Avonworth beats defending champ Riverside, 4-3, in 14 innings to win WPIAL 3A title.
Longest championship game in WPIAL history since at least 1940.
