After 14 months “acting” in the role of Assistant and Deputy, and an intense interview day on Monday, I’m pleased to say that I secured the job permanently- Deputy Headteacher 💚
Back to work tomorrow after a week off spent reading and writing for my doctorate. Pleased with the progress made after uni work took a back seat once assessment season started. Now focus shifts to the final half-term of the school year, which always seems to fly by.
Kicked off session 1 of 4 in an Unconditional Positive Regard course yesterday morning- really enjoyed it. Sharing the facilitator’s well-loved copy of the core text, full of tabs and dog-eared pages… always a good sign.
Once my work laptop finally woke up, I had a really productive day creating documents to kick off our work addressing foundational knowledge and skills, analysing assessments, and setting up targeted intervention groups for writing and maths with tracking docs to go alongside it.
Held off opening the work laptop this Easter break the moment I saw the forecast. Ended up spending the whole day in the garden in the sun, deliberately doing very little. Busy stretch Friday to Sunday, so skipping the lie-in tomorrow and going all in on a proper productive day.
Clearly feel the need to document progress today. 6 hours and I’m at 3500 of the 7000 needed for my reflexive paper. Feeling even more smug, because had I started this at my usual holiday writing time of midday then the day would be all but over. Now I’ve the whole day ahead! 💻
Woke up at 3:30 with my mind whirring, especially over uni work after a frustrating few days with it. Finally gave up on sleep at 5. Sat in the garden with a coffee and the birds, and then locked in… just came out of 3.5 hours of seriously productive writing. 😊
Enjoyed taking part in the @BelmasOffice ECR Month IGNITE session yesterday evening, with plenty to take away for my own research. Looking forward to next year’s event and being 1 year further into my EdD.
Every time I hear it I shudder. Change is scary to most people, but scarier still is staying exactly as we are. Comfort is the enemy of progress and all that...
The Sunday scaries aren’t hitting as hard this evening. A much shorter week with only 2 and half days until we break up for the Easter break, and lots to fit in that!
Exclusive: Schools with the highest proportion of disadvantaged pupils are more likely to be marked down by Ofsted in the achievement category, Tes can reveal
https://t.co/XEevCGqqJD
@englishspecial We don’t need Ofsted to rank schools on achievement grades. That’s a waste of inspectors’ time and expertise. Those details are already available from the DfE. We need Ofsted to comment on what inspectors find when they visit schools. That’s good use of inspection resources.
Imagine a different future for education in England. No fear of Ofsted.
Just professionals opening their doors to each other.
Headteachers visiting schools, sharing practice, challenging, learning, supporting.
