USDA has confirmed a second detection of New World Screwworm in a one-month-old calf in Zavala County, Texas — approximately 5.6 miles from the first case.

Livestock peeps! USDA has announced a suspect case of NWS in Texas. A sample has been sent to the USDA NVSL in Ames, IA for official confirmatory testing. Until we get the official USDA NVSL announcement as a "yes or no", NWS has not confirmed in the US. Now we await results.
A case of NWS may have been detected in South Texas. The sample is now at USDA's National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) in Ames, lowa for confirmatory testing. We will provide updates the moment results are available.
