I wish you had called me. I could have told you that all babies come with risk, but not all babies come with the pure JOY and divine blessing of a child with #DownSyndrome.

The mother of our son, Samuel, made more than one attempt to abort him. She was stopped by supernatural intervention like literal trains breaking down, trees in the road, and weather catastrophes. Then the Holy Spirit spoke to her, almost audibly, to gift her baby to someone who was called to raise him.

My family had been waiting, praying and searching to adopt the pure joy of a baby with Down Syndrome for more than 10 years.

I called through Planned Parenthoods constantly. Finally, the very profitable, taxpayer-funded FOR profit company told me they “are not in the business of adoption.” That hit me. They make their money killing these precious souls. Not facilitating their survival.

When my son was born, and we were chosen by his birth mother (who is now one of my closest friends), to be his forever family, we were given all of the horrific stories and told he had 10 congenital “defects” that would likely land him in an institution.

It simply was not true. He not only was medically easier to raise than my other four children - by far - he is to this day the smile in our lives and my own children will tell you, he is all of our favorite.

I can’t imagine life without Samuel (1 Samuel 1:27). None of us can. None of the thousands of lives he touches would have a single unkind thing to say about him… an angel on earth.

He works full time, and owns his own company (https://t.co/egeUkv9x3T). He has had books written about him (“How Sammy Sees the World”), and I have told his story in my own books.

He teaches us things every day that we could learn no place else. My other children would not have the depth or wisdom they are often cited for, without knowing Samuel.

He isn’t perfect by the world’s standards. He doesn’t talk at all (he can, he just doesn’t), but without saying a word he will teach you more about Christ than anyone you will ever know in your life. Of this, I am certain.

Everyone who knows him is better for it.

90% of babies with down syndrome are indeed aborted. This is a genocide by every standard. What makes my life more valuable than someone else’s? And where in the Bible do I even have the authority to condemn someone to death if it was God’s will to give them life?

Simultaneously it is no one’s place to condemn you and your family, who were forced to make a decision in the most unfathomable moment of your life.

Please know that I believe God’s grace is in full play here and I’m the last person coming to condemn you. I have enough sin in my own life.

I am here instead to offer that if you ever want to know Sam, you are invited to our home with my family to experience the kind of love you have lost because a multi Billion dollar industry lied to you.

I wish you peace in Jesus that only He can give. You were brave to post with such raw and newly experienced pain. But I do hope you will one day know the sweet, sweet soul that now waits for you in Heaven. If I can ever be helpful with that, I would be honored.

Let’s start with the reprehensible way airlines treat customers (subjects/prisoners these days). Demand respect, customer SERVICE, good meals, and FREEDOM aboard airlines. Start there. Respect goes both ways.

And the BS TSA has to drag us through. Privatize TSA.

As long as airlines treat people like animals they will act like it.

And let’s not forget #OperationQuietSkies where PATRIOTS were victimized and wronged and there has been no justice. Airlines were complicit and need to be held accountable. Again, start there.

I flew @emirates last month and it was how air travel should be. They dress pure class, they are service minded, POLITE professionals who understand that the customers PAID to be there and they work for them. It was a pleasure. We even tipped. Always would if any American airline ever rose to that level. Let’s change that.

The pilot is lovely, but the flight attendant is a Karen, bitching at people for putting their seats back or being in the aisles, as we are stuck on the tarmac for hours with no AC, no drinks, no food, being treated like prisoners, not customers who paid way too much to be in their strippo plane without event movie screens or music.

They haven’t even offered water or a snack. Rude as rude can be, no “I’m sorry, can I offer you a drink” or anything. No smiles. No welcome. Nothing.

Any other airline is always better. No idea why I thought anything had changed since Covid.

Hire nice people. @ChickfilA does it. Maybe ask them for tips.

I miss hospitality in the skies.
