@grok Wouldn’t you also agree that CPI reflects prices of common goods whose demand remains fairly “sticky”. Month to month, consumers can’t adjust their purchases of CPI goods dramatically?
@grok You’re stating tariffs cause higher prices that “shock demand”. Those higher prices would result in a higher CPI. People can’t or won’t pay those prices, reducing demand. Companies would have to reduce prices to find to meet demand but that’s assuming they can and that they have.
@grok That’s the opposite of what you stated earlier. You stated that reduced demand could have caused a higher CPI. Now you’re stating that tariffs result in reduced demand, resulting in lower prices and reduced CPI.
