In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
@JamesSurowiecki FWIW it is top 5% of all Texas HS grads are *auto*-admitted to UT-Austin. That's all. It is intended to give the best achieving students from the whole state a chance at the flagship. Seems valuable. People are ridiculous for complaining.
@washingtonpost You could at least color correct the photos. The entire right photo is more blue. Look at the river, bushes, concrete and memorial... They are all "bluer" in the right photo. The Reflecting Pool is even more the same than they look in these photos, people...
"there's not any financial threat to the credit card companies"
JFC. His message to people paying for groceries on credit cards is, "Don't worry. The credit card companies are going to be just fine." ??? WTactualF. So f-ing out of touch.
BREAM: The Journal says the percentage of delinquent credit card balances is 13%, the highest since the period following the financial crisis. People say they're using them for necessities. Your message to them?
HASSETT: We talk to the CEOs of the credit card companies all the time. Delinquency is different from default, and there's not any financial threat to the credit card companies. It's just people are taking a little bit longer.
@capitolhunters@shannonrwatts Honestly, she should not have had to ask. Supremely shitty of Biden to not already had that teed up as part of the conversation.
@yminsky@RBMD1982@GiveDirectly But simply they won't. That kind of wealth enormously distorts people. They believe the money means they are actually smarter than everyone else, and are therefore qualified to determine how to best spend it. This is just insane. Just fricking tax billionaires out of existence.
@dieworkwear This is a a luxury he can only afford because he has assistants to print up emails for him and run to him with time-sensitive texts or phone calls. Just completely selfish off-loading of that work the rest of us have to do. A very nice life if you can afford it.
@JamesSurowiecki We quick re-watched Veep in the 100 days that Harris was the nominee because we were pretty sure that was the last time we could watch it and think it was funny.
Tesla’s inspection results in Finland are absolutely brutal.
According to new Finnish vehicle inspection data, 62,7% of 2021 Tesla Model Ys failed their first roadworthiness inspection. The Model 3 followed at 58,7%.
Meanwhile, Europe’s Volkswagen ID.4 had a failure rate of just 5.5%.
2022: “Stop overreacting, they won’t overturn Roe.”
They did.
2023: “Stop overreacting, they won’t let women die rather than get an abortion.”
They did.
2024: “Stop overreacting, they won’t arrest women for miscarriages.”
They did.
2025: “Stop overreacting, they won’t turn women into incubators.”
They did.
2026: “Stop overreacting, they won’t attack mifepristone.”
They did, today.
Now: “Stop overreacting, they won’t go after birth control next.”
They will.
It's kind of a deep linguistic point with how the English language treats euphemisms, but after some serious analysis, I've figured out that the reason so many people think "86" is a death threat is that they're lying
