Hey San Franciscans, we can do a lot better to make our city safe for everyone by re-designing our streets. We cannot undo the recent tragedy in West Portal; we can learn from it and rebuild our neighborhood. Help make change with this survey https://t.co/m0hMzvpbLA
.@SecRaimondo will lead an important discussion with executive perspectives at our National Child Care Innovation Summit later this week, hosted in partnership with @CommerceGov and @USChamber.
@wafoli I think the @vonrocklaw and @WestPortalSF have an opportunity to collaborate constructively in the week of this tragedy, and I urge them to do so. The simple truth is that we need a safer West Portal for everyone! Safer = more vibrant.
After a crash in San Francisco’s West Portal neighborhood killed a family of 4, city leaders are planning major changes to the area where it happened.
“I’m going to make sure that we do something to make it safer,” said Supervisor Myrna Melgar. https://t.co/e6TzmZeNhJ
You can help get the planned improvements approved and installed by signing the original petition that called for these improvements now at https://t.co/ZI4J6CX7nz.
Signing the petition takes only a few taps and less than a minute and you’ll make a real impact! Please share 🔁🙏
@LukeBornheimer There will 100% be a benefit to local businesses and more importantly, everyone walking through West Portal. I want to specifically call on @WestPortalSF to approach the redesign with a collaborative and open approach. Thriving pedestrians make thriving communities.
@LukeBornheimer@sfchronicle@rachelswan@LondonBreed These proposed redesigns of West Portal will make big progress toward making our neighborhood safer & bringing more vibrant activity to our area. I encourage everyone to take the @SFMTA_Muni survey on the West Portal Station improvements https://t.co/m0hMzvpbLA
SFMTA has announced plans to improve the West Portal Station area — with support from Supervisor Melgar and Mayor Breed — following our related grassroots campaign with over 1,000 supporters!
This will make the area safer for all people. Full statement at https://t.co/bP1YUGfecC
@SFMTA_Muni I fully endorse closing the West Portal intersection to car traffic indefinitely, and the entire intersection needs to be redesigned. This tragedy should never have happened. My heart is with this family and our community. Thank you @LukeBornheimer for speaking up.
Closing the intersections nearest transit hubs (e.g. West Portal, Church/Duboce, 4th/King, 4th/Townsend, Embarcadero/Market, 9th between Irving and Judah, etc.) to car traffic would make our city instantly safer while also helping more people shift trips to public transportation.
Great news for everyone getting married in 2024 and beyond — @poppyflowers is continuing to expand! Go @cameronhardesty and team, congrats on your Series A financing!
That rise in proposals and the number of weddings to follow brings a big opportunity for @poppyflowers, a #Techstars Atlanta graduate innovating the floral industry: https://t.co/AyuFI2Pkzl

So, if you want to learn more about the incredible people who have created the restaurants and businesses that bring beauty, newness, kindness and community to San Francisco, I hope you’ll sign up to meet many of them in The Westsider at https://t.co/qzVwxk6vGC
This is a thread about why I believe in the future of San Francisco and why I’m starting The Westsider, a weekly newsletter. The media attention is on the doom loop, tech layoffs, and the downtown commercial real estate downturn.
As an aside, @parul_sehgal writes in the @NewYorker this week that we’ve come to expect everything of storytelling - even saving San Francisco. Her piece is very much worth reading. And I’m going to raise my hand as firmly on the side of storytelling.
