@MelodeeStarrRod @Laurelabbott19 it's up to us to make our classes as inviting as possible! #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@lbrennem100 totally, it's such an effective way to assess! #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@Laurelabbott19 that's a good point. you never know everyone's story until in fact, you know it! #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@nwoodman159 yep! informal assessment is sometimes the best/most effective way to go! #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@thalim514 right! like is that NOT part of your job?!? it's comically unacceptable. #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@_Hawks365 exactly! it's a way to develop a friendly and understanding relationship w/ ss! #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@jessw321 yes! journals allot more time for ss to think about what they want to say b4 they say it! #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@jessw321 right?! i feel like journaling can be therapeutic solution for some ss 😀#olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

a15. perhaps explaining why we use STs would help ss understand more about them --cre8ng open dialogue b/w ss & Ts #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

a15. standardized tests give a ss a false impression of their "intelligence", which can be detrimental for some kids. #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@thalim514 a12. hahah! i know! i actually scoffed at that😆 #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@louis_olander @jessw321 it can be a really trying time for everyone involved. #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@louis_olander @jessw321 totally! i had friends growing up that had evrythng (loving & supportive parents, financial security etc.) & acted out #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

a14. there is something about journals that I like as a form of assessment. i think they are primo for shyer ss as well. #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

a14. also, ss might feel more at ease if they are contributing with peers rather than whole class. #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

a14. it can sometimes provide a good snapshot as to what the ss is thinking about #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

a14. one good way to assess is just to stop by and listen in on ss while they are talking to their peers. #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@jessw321 they have a better chance, for sure! sometimes ss have that structure @ home & still act out tho :/ #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@louis_olander i'd agree with that! the situation arose from some real occurrence! #olanderinclusion

[Jana Ulanoff @jsulanoff]

@jessw321 absolutely! kids need guidance and they need to know that ppl care about them at home. #olanderinclusion
