When you listen to music you don't choose a Volume Profile (Whisper, Elevator Music, Standard, Party, Rock Concert).
You granularly choose a level based on comfort/preference, etc. Want Louder, Scroll Up; Want Quieter, Scroll Down. No thinking - just reaction.
FSD just needs to have speed controlled with right scroll wheel like music volume.
0 to 11.
Essentially 5-6 would be "Standard". Level 11, "Mad Max" - you get the point.
No more limited, cheesy profile names. In addition, NHTSA would probably appreciate "Level 11" more than "Mad Max".
But wait, there is more!
There is Speed and there is Assertiveness.
@DrKnowItAll16
Just because you want to drive slow does not mean you dont want be be assertive. And just because you want to drive fast does not mean you want to be assertive (a lot of darty lane changes, quick acceleration, etc).
Right Scroll Wheel Up and Down (1-11) for Speed.
Right Scroll Wheel Left and Right (1-3) for Assertiveness.

Speed Level Examples:
Right now STANDARD goes 70 in a 55 zone - let's say that would be Level 6.
Level 5 would go ~67
Level 4 would go ~64
Level 3 would go ~61 (CHILL)
Level 2 would go ~58
Level 1 would go ~55 (SLOTH)
Level 0 - maybe 45 to 50ish
AND
Level 7 ~73
Level 8 ~76 (HURRY)
Level 9 ~79
Level 10 ~82
Level 11 ~85 (MAD MAX)
~ because these levels should be "targets" and dynamic temporarily - slower in bad weather - faster in a lane change maneuver, accident evasion maneuver or to fit in with abnormal traffic speed.
Then with the .5 levels you could even fill in those gaps....
@SonicSoundVW That's closer to full than half.. regen never makes it down to the bottom - at least in the model 3 which is pretty horrible at regen braking. And don't ask why but the Y is so much stronger.
Very dangerous changing profiles while in fast lane... Full Regen cannot happen while in fast lane.
Get to appropriate lane and then slow down.
These speed profiles are broken.
I wish it didn't say STOP when putting into Reverse with the trouble in front of the car.
@Tesla_AI
So many times I've had a mini heart palpitation reversing and seeing STOP out of the corner of my eye.
@Josh143574359@Tesla_AI All I know is that RT was certified as L4 in Texas so Tesla may as well just release that version to us.
Because an L4 system has to be trained and capable to be able to read every single sign on the road...
I would never get into a Robotaxi until I had 100% confirmation car can read.
And directly from @Tesla_AI
For supervising it's fine.. But signs are too important to not be able to read when it's your life and you have no control.
FSD appears to have trouble detecting barrier arm from a distance. It reacted only at the last second at high speed, attempted to move over, and ended up striking it.
This looks like a supervision failure as much as an FSD failure.
@Josh143574359@Tesla_AI You don't need to make excuses for the car not being able to read do not enter signs.. in fact, making excuses and pretending that it is okay is detrimental to the improvement of FSD.
@Josh143574359@Tesla_AI Normally whenever I see a do not enter sign that is wider than my vehicle - I don't enter.
And even as a dumb, distracted human, I miss this - if FSD misses it as well then we have a problem..
@FSDyinzer Wonder what the highest streak is in PA.
Btw, my pin for parking in my complex that worked for 14.1 to 14.3.2 is broken.
I can't get within a hundred feet of where I used to park everyday for 8 months.
That cross Canada drive must have been psychotic when it came to parking
@DriveElectricc It's funny that nobody even meant to stop signs anymore because essentially it's just something that is almost unfixable.... And today it would be the number one reason that most people would say - I'm just going to drive myself
