Out today in Cognitive Science: @jtab29 Rachel Watson-Jones and I document cultural variation in the development of beliefs about land and animal conservation and show widespread endorsement of sustainability, moral, and religious justifications. @cogsci_soc@UTPsychology
There's a slight problem with this Tweet. The claim is this "would be" Joe Biden's America. Now here's the problem: this *is* Donald Trump's America. It's literally happening on his watch; and yes, Trump's America is a very scary place/ getting scarier. Try again, @BorisEP
Portland mayor on CNN: "What I want to do is raise awareness nationally. This could happen in your city. And what we're seeing is a blatant abuse of police tactics by the federal government, by a Trump admin that's falling in the polls. This is a direct threat to our democracy."
DEFCON 5: “We have an imperative to build a ‘people's firewall’ that reaches deeply across the country and reflects public revulsion at the potential for Trump to undermine our entire democratic system of governance.” THIS IS THE IMPENDING EMERGENCY 🚨

All right.
Let's talk about that couple who pointed their guns at peaceful protesters and how the racist, paranoid reality they're drowning in is one of the cornerstones of American life and continues to put all our lives at risk to this very day.

"epistemological anarchy is a mortal threat to a free nation. If there are no knowable truths to appeal to, no common set of facts we can agree on, no shared reality that binds us together then everything is up for grabs. Justice is impossible to achieve."

Funny how we can afford military flyovers in every city across the country and every local police department can afford to be outfitted like a full-blown military, and yet we can't afford fucking voting machines that work.
People are marching because of police violence and police murder but also because our elections have become debacles because the Republican Party needs to disenfranchise minorities.
This movement is about so much and about combatting so many injustices.
So much news today, but don't overlook the voting debacle happening right now in Georgia. This is a dire wakeup call for November - long lines, broken machines. It is a national outrage that undermines the legitimacy of our democracy.
Watch the video and then read the statement. The fact that so many police departments—already facing a massive crisis of credibility—are choosing to lie about things we can all see clearly on video is instructive. https://t.co/3ucThl5Hm2

In this video @DenverPolice appear to shoot pepper balls at a car to move traffic. The man gets out to tell police that his girlfriend is pregnant in the car, and they keep shooting.
He isn’t a threat, or even a protestor. We need police reform now.
Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis denounces President Trump, accusing him of making a mockery of the Constitution and pitting Americans against each other. Read all about it at @theatlantic:

There is no generic DOJ police force, obviously. No badges, no identifying info, refusal to say who they represent - it’s like Russia’s little green men have taken over the nation’s capital.
In these days of anxiety, I wanted to find a way to continue to share some of the music that gives me comfort. The first of my #SongsOfComfort: Dvořák – "Going Home”
Stay safe.
In a focus group of climate skeptics. "The common themes in the group were striking: “for climate skeptics it was not the environment that was threatened, it was a certain kind of modern industrial society built and dominated by their form of masculinity.” https://t.co/wM7YBnOgfg
