If you were wondering what the "pause" was all about, Ben Thompson @stratechery has an interesting theory:
"Late last week the Anthropic Institute released a new safety report warning about the danger of recursive self-improvement... I don’t think the timing is a coincidence. This is a company and leadership that has been honing safety-and-scaremongering-as-marketing-tactic ever since Amodei led the charge to close source OpenAI models because GPT-2 was too dangerous; it’s always fun to see the evolution of tactics, capabilities, and goals, and in this case publishing a widely-discussed report the week before you cite it to silently degrade your offering for potential competitors is impressive."
InVision is excited to announce that Andrew Reeve has joined as Chief Commercial Officer. Andrew will build the health-system partnerships that bring InVision's cleared cardiac AI to every echocardiography lab.

American food and drink is definitely more expensive than other countries by a wide margin - very noticeable in Japan and Europe. I initially assumed this must be a logistics issue (US is much bigger) but perhaps also labor costs, rent, healthcare costs all baked into final price the customer pays. I think fine dining also more expensive in the US due to wealth gap widening, particularly post covid.
Things I really dislike about Fable:
1. Anthropic collects my prompt history, stores it, and does whatever they want with it for 30 days. No opt-out
2. They can nerf their most expensive model without telling me, billing me the same amount, wasting my time. Whenever they want
It turns out it’s not just biology and medicine, Anthropic has also decided to gate-keep math! This is as dystopian as it gets! This is the only nightmare scenario I am worried in the age of AI. Accumulation of all AI power in one company who will be the decider what you can use!
I'm finally reading Dune. This quote, which is in the first few pages, hits hard:
"Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."
Congratulations to @AlexZverev on his very first Grand Slam Singles title!
He is also the first man with Type 1 Diabetes to win a major.
What a victory for everyone living with this disease.

Keep in mind only the top 2 advance to the next round, which is why the third place candidate suddenly surged
Not even hiding it
Israel has used American-supplied munitions to kill tens of thousands of innocent civilians.
America is morally obligated to end support of Israel’s devastation of Gaza and its people. I’m cosponsoring the Block the Bombs Act to limit the transfer of offensive weapons to Israel.
Florida processes more than 10 million votes in a matter of hours.
California takes days — or sometimes even weeks — to count the votes.
It’s pathetic — and it’s corrosive to our civic culture.
UNIFIL says nearly 97% of the projectiles it tracked between Lebanon and Israel on Tuesday were attributed to the Israeli military.
