Impeachment is the charges and accusations, which he has been relieved of. They no longer apply but yes they stay as a stain on his record.

That’s the dictionary definition. Relieve is another word for let go or release. Those charges were released and let go. Couldn’t be proved guilty.

Which I’m all for. And why not use the same witnesses and evidence for the real trial?

The house treated the impeachment like a trial before the real trial. The house worked hard to push all that stuff before it was actually time. And they tried to call Bolton up but he refused.
