@Unreal_Dreamer Endgame fights are the best they've ever been. Biggest complaints have been with classes feeling "samey" with fixed rotations and a lack of "middle difficulty" content but those are both getting addressed in Evercold.
Oh and PvP is actually fun now???
@Unreal_Dreamer Story through base Endwalker is peak. Base DT was divisive but you will likely enjoy it for personal reasons I won't spoil and the story for the last couple patches have been bangers.
@cherylducky I promise you, there are a lot of us who enjoyed the Turali part of DT. We've just stopped talking about it publicly because we got tired of all the racism, transphobia, and babies who can't enjoy a narrative if it's not constantly glazing them or their stand-in.
@drakanous Response seemed almost universally positive in the discords I'm in. Unfortunately I think "Dawntrail discourse" has poisoned the well on getting anything like representative feedback from all parts of the community on public platforms like Twitter.
@Timodc@PeteButtigieg People get hung up on the "AI" part of it, but the challenge of automation significantly reducing (maybe even zeroing out) the value of large swaths of the labor force is a challenge that I don't think our industrial era "commies or capitalists" politics is equipped to face.
@jefffos@Timodc Regarding it being narcissistic: like, whatever your opinion on the degree to which people should or shouldn't be putting their sexual & gender identity up front in other aspects of their life, isn't Pride the one time where it's most appropriate?
@jefffos@Timodc The original rainbow pride flags were designed by hippie artist types and the colors symbolized things like "sunlight", "healing", and "magic". The idea that the "progress" style pride flags aren't "scientifically literate" enough is a bit farcical.
@JoCat105 Chanter from Pillars of Eternity. Technically they're themed more in the orator vein than the musical vein, but their mechanics feel more like "performing a song" than anything I've played that wasn't actually a rhythm/timing game.
@SimplyAllegra Been sitting here watching the sentiment from fans going from full throated support of the strike to anti-union and in some cases full MAGA because of how badly this is being handled and like... I dunno if SAG understands the larger cultural damage they're doing at this point. ๐ข
@Marcodmeatball I'm not a shonen fan generally, and spent the first few episodes saying "this is stupid" repeatedly, but that's one of the intended reads. I don't know how else to explain other than it kind of falls in the Homestuck era of ridiculous sincerity becoming irony becoming sincerity.
@Marcodmeatball Yes, *but* you need to be prepared for the fact that it's kind of shonen/mecha parody to the point of coming around the other side to being completely sincere and that's kind of the charm of it.
@ColbyPoulson That said, I don't think 2024 was really actually that good & failed to solve a lot of the biggest problems with the game. But it's strictly better than 2014 (except for divine smite which is a hill I'll die on) so........
@ColbyPoulson We're playing with 2014 still because we don't want to switch up mid campaign, and I think the rest of the group hasn't been following and so is going to need to put in a lot more work to switch. But I'd really really rather be playing 2024.
@Ubatcha1 Big same. I'll probably quit if they require too much time to keep up.
Especially right now with the VA strike; I don't want to do the story until all the voices are available, and if I miss too much content I'll probably quit.
@Ian_Fisch@terminallyOL Part of that may be a general failure to figure out ways to make movement/traversal feel awesome without either letting the game do most of the work or requiring, like, speedrun level precision. I think there's actually a lot of innate complexity to that problem.
@Ian_Fisch@terminallyOL I'm not sure this is that complicated--we have many more ways of interacting with games now aside from jumping on things, and ultimately the majority of skill-focused gamers have seemed to prefer other skills (especially combat related ones).
Due to some strange oversight, #TheGameAwards forgot to make a highlight clip of @LarAtLarian - Swen Vincke's Speech on the official channel.
Surely this wasn't a deliberate mistake, so I made one myself. We should probably retweet and repost it far and wide for good luck.
