@PreetBharara Why is partisan gerrymandering allowed? I see there are several SCOTUS cases addressing (or punting) on the issue. Still it doesn’t seem to be democratic - to let politicians to choose their voters instead of voters choosing their politicians.
@JessMarinDavis I'm with the majority here. A journalist's primary commitment is to readers, to understand an issue or event well enough to report as truthfully as possible. That means double- or triple-sourcing of facts.

@Chris_arnade I just heard a great podcast (Gastropod) about vanilla bean, which comes from a rather temperamental orchid. Growing/harvesting conditions not easy to replicate.
As we watch things spin out of control in the Middle East I can't help but recall, and I've said it many, many times before and I'll say it again: one human being should not be able to have all this power. The Founders didn't want it that way and they were 100% right.
Here's the full testimony of Luke Ganger—brother of Renee Nicole Good, who was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Jan. 7—delivered minutes ago.
"These encounters with federal agents are changing the community and changing many lives—including ours—forever," he said.
On its face, ICE targeting the Native community in Minneapolis seems weird, until you look at Kristi Noem’s history as South Dakota’s governor. You can’t get much further from the US-Mexico border than South Dakota. 🧵
It's that magical time of year when private jets descend on a Swiss mountain village to discuss climate change and poverty! Anyway, here's my annual reminder. I'll stop posting this when they stop avoiding the real issue: their own massive tax avoidance 💰
