That been said, Trident is still the engine running Add-ins in Office 2013, 2016 and 2019 (perpetual/msi) so you still need to support if you have many customers in such versions of Office. For our M365 subscriptions is all about WebView2.
The summary of what I shared today is that effective immediately we will no longer reject add-ins not supporting Trident (Internet Explorer) in AppSource. WebView2 is now serving the vast majority of Add-in activations in Win32. 1/2
