#WATCH | DMK President MK Stalin tweets, "... Thambi Vijay, what you said is true. It is not a lie. During the Emergency, opposing it, leader Kalaignar organized a huge gathering at the Marina beach and severely criticized the MISA Act. Following that, the Union Government that was in power at that time, on 31st January 1976, dismissed the DMK government. The very next second after dismissing the government, police came to the Gopalapuram house to arrest me under the MISA Act.
That day, I was not at home. My son has gone campaigning. He will come tomorrow. As soon as he comes, I myself will call you. Come and arrest him - saying this, Kalaignar sent them back. The next day, when I came, he himself called the police and asked them to arrest me.
In prison, many atrocities happened to me. We were taken and locked up in a place where leprosy patients were kept. Ten people were locked inside a small room. Inside that same room, in a single pot, all of us had to urinate. That place itself was very foul-smelling. We had to sleep there. At night, without letting us sleep, the police would beat us with lathis. They would kick us with boots. On the other side, lifers would beat us cruelly. Due to their beating, my dear brother, Member of Parliament Chitti Babu, died inside the jail itself. Due to their beating, my jawbone was broken. You also showed it like this, keeping your hand near the jaw, right? That is correct. Even today, I have the scars of the beatings I received. I am not saying no.
You say you are an ideological leader. From the time of Perarignar Anna, this is the history of the DMK. That I am also part of that history is a matter of pride for me. No matter who tries to demean me, history can never be changed. It will remain as it is forever. If you have any doubts, you said there is a library in the Assembly, right? All the documents will be there. Go there and read my history of struggle. You will understand what the truth is.
Secondly, you have given wrong information about the Sarkaria Commission and about our leader Kalaignar. You have made corruption allegations. After the Sarkaria Commission was formed, governments have changed many times both in the Union and in the States. If there were any truth in these allegations, action would definitely have been taken. For so many years, you have also been repeating the same false accusation that was made against Kalaignar out of political vendetta.
Not only that, you are taking a letter written by the Enforcement Directorate and saying that there are corruption allegations against us. In 95% of the cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate, so far, the charges have not been proven, and the accused have been acquitted. It is well known to everyone here that the ED is mostly used for political vendettas. To tell you clearly, even against the Congress leaders who are in your alliance, the ED has filed many cases. How did you not know all this when you portrayed the Union Government as an ideological enemy?
Chief Minister Thambi Vijay, what I am asking you is only one thing. The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has dignity and respect. It is a place sculpted by many great leaders, great men. That responsibility is now with you. Discuss in the Assembly about law and order issues, people's welfare schemes, and how to take Tamil Nadu further and further on the path of progress? How to protect the rights of Tamil Nadu? Discuss all this. That is good for Tamil Nadu and the Tamil people. Leaving that, my request is that you should not talk about unnecessary controversies in the Assembly.
When you became Chief Minister, you came to my house to meet me. Then, I held your hand and welcomed you. At that time, while we were talking, you told me that during the election campaign, I spoke very critically about you. I am sorry, sir. To that, I said, it's okay, brother. I don't keep all that in my heart. You are now the Chief Minister of a state. Whoever you talk about, speak with that dignity.
It seems you have forgotten all that. I am saying again, a Chief Minister's words and body language should have the dignity of a Chief Minister. We are the role models for the people. Don't forget that. You should act with the great responsibility you hold.
You turned the Assembly itself into a place where reels happen, standing on the bridge we built and doing photoshoots, you are running the administration also, just like a cinema shooting. To hide your inefficient administration, you are posting various reels like this and cheating a whole generation.
In your rule, daily murder, theft, and sexual crimes against women, law and order is in a deep pit. You cancelled the Parandur airport project and took Tamil Nadu's development back 15 years. You promised a complete loan waiver for farmers. But you didn't do that properly either. You said six cylinders per year for all families. Now you have taken a U-turn, saying only three cylinders are eligible people. You said the women's entitlement amount will be Rs. 2500. You are giving the same Rs. 1000 that we gave. You are keeping your mouth shut about many other promises.
What you said then is one thing. What you are doing now is one thing. The people who voted thinking change is needed, especially our youth, are now observing - what change has really come? Is this the right change? See what an administration with governance is? What is an administration without talent? Understand that.
In particular, what I want to emphasize to the Kazhagam cadres is: People did not vote for us fully. We could not come to power. So when people are affected by the mistakes happening in this government, we should not have an attitude of 'what is it to us? ' Such a thought does not exist in our ideology at all.
Losing power, the DMK has never been considered a failure. Like two sides of a coin, I see this as another face of people's service. Whether we are in power or not, we must continue to fight for the rights of Tamil Nadu and for its development and for the people.
We fought for their grandfather. We fought for their father. Now we will fight for them. This is the history of our DMK. That history will never change. And it should not change."
Mohan Bhagwat is lying through his teeth.
There were no survivors in the 1996 Charkhi Dadri collision. All 349 people aboard the two aircraft were killed, and many bodies were badly charred or mutilated. So whom exactly did his Swayamsevaks "treat"?
One aircraft belonged to Saudi Arabia, while the other belonged to Kazakhstan, which is not an Arab nation.
@VishnuNDTV was among the first journalists to reach the crash site and report from there. No one ever heard of these mysterious Swayamsevaks being present.
Bhagwat has invented survivors, distorted facts and inserted the RSS into a tragedy, all to manufacture a certificate of communal harmony for his organisation.
Even the dead are not spared from the RSS propaganda machine.
Aap chronology samajh lijiye.

"Fine. Let's have a discussion. Start at 3 pm. I will personally sit there and answer everything for 24 hours" —Amit Shah
August 13:
Amit Shah in the front row, next to Modi.
This was the first time Shah entered the Lok Sabha during this entire 18-day session!
Speaker Om Birla entered the House.
Instead of taking up the promised discussion, the House first proceeded with the national song, Vande Mataram.
All six stanzas were rendered.
Members, including Modi and Shah, stood.
And immediately after it ended, Birla announced that the House was adjourned sine die.
As they say, patriotism is the last refuge...
I went to watch stand up comic Kunal Kamra live for the first time yesterday, at a small underground venue in Bengaluru.
Several of his ‘Standing Up’ shows in another Bengaluru locality had been cancelled after right-wing groups threatened to disrupt them, and the shows were moved to this venue. When we arrived, there were about nine policemen stationed outside. We had to hand over our IDs so that, in case anyone created a ruckus, the police would have the details of everyone inside.
It felt strangely like walking into a potential danger zone just to watch a stand-up show.
And yet, the police in this Congress-ruled state were not there to stop the comedian (for a change). They were there to protect him and us and our right to laugh.
I had expected Kunal to be a little cocky. Perhaps a comedian who had been through as much as he has would develop a certain swagger, a sense of being above the rest of us. But that wasn’t what I saw at all. He was incredibly human.
He spoke hilariously about a venue being broken down by Shiv Sainiks in Mumbai, about being repeatedly summoned and harassed after speaking about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and about the extraordinary machinery that seems to swing into action when a comedian says something powerful people don’t like.
But there was no false bravado in the way he told these stories. There was vulnerability. There was self-deprecation. There was storytelling and insight alongside the gags and one-liners.
There was no bitterness in him. No vindictiveness. He is a man who simply believes that he has a right to speak, and that nobody has the right to take that away from him.
Kunal did not allow any video recording of the performance. There is still a very real fear that a stray clip can be taken out of context, go viral and invite an endless cycle of outrage, threats and lawsuits. Unlike comedians with enormous commercial ecosystems (he mentioned Samay Raina) around them, Kunal doesn’t have the luxury of a battery of lawyers at his beck n call. Also, a recording doesn’t just expose the comedian. It can expose everyone who laughed in that room to a completely different kind of backlash.
Later, backstage, I met Kunal and the wonderful Shyam Rangeela, who did an absolutely hilarious act as Prime Minister Modi. There was also an interview between Kunal and Shyam’s Modi that I won’t reveal here. You really should watch the show to see it. All I will say is that it felt strangely satisfying to see ‘Modiji’ finally answer questions from the public.
I also told Kunal something that had struck me during the evening. Before 2014, we were used to laughing at our political leaders.
Manmohan Singh was mocked. Rajiv Gandhi was mocked. V. P. Singh was mocked. Lalu Prasad Yadav was mocked. Television satire regularly lampooned our politicians. We had caricatures, spoofs, political cartoons and comedy shows that treated even the most powerful people in the country as fair game.
Nobody seemed to think that laughing at a Prime Minister or Chief Minister was an act of treason.
Somewhere between 2014 and 2026, we seem to have developed a fear of even laughing at power.
And yesterday, in that tiny Bangalore room, I realised how much we have missed it. Because for 100 minutes, 100 people laughed freely.
And perhaps that is why protecting comedians like @kunalkamra88 and @ShyamRangeela matters.
They remind us that powerful people are not beyond laughter, and that we, the public, actually hold the power.
Visa lays off employees.
Bengaluru founder Sanket Sheth raised a question that deserves attention:
Why is severance pay taxed like a bonus?
Employees pay income tax throughout their careers.
Then they lose their jobs.
The one payment meant to help them survive, cover EMIs, rent, school fees, groceries, and medical bills is taxed too.
Severance isn't a reward.
It's survival money.
India has millions of private-sector employees but almost no real unemployment safety net.
Should severance pay receive separate tax treatment?
What's your take on this ?
@DMIFinance I have escalated to you already about the non-stop calls I’m receiving regarding EMI for a loan that is already closed and for which NOC is also generated. But there is no end to these calls. I’ve received almost 55 calls since Saturday, each person tells me they’ll update the records, but nothing seems to change. Tell me what I should do.
@DMIFinance You’ve hired a goon agency in Bangalore to do your collections. You become unreachable when a customer needs you, but you give customers’ data to goons to do your collection. That too for a loan that is closed and for which you’ve sent NOC. PATHETIC!
@DMIFinance I’ve shared my details and I received a call from your team. I’ve been asked to wait another 5 days for loan closure. This is the third time I’ve been told the same thing. My next EMI auto debit will happen in a couple of days for no reason. This is very poor service. @DMIFinance
@DMIFinance It's been more than 2 weeks since I've paid the outstanding amount via cheque to pre-close the loan. In spite of multiple follow ups, I'm yet to receive a response regarding loan closure or regarding the refund of excess payment. Please look into this on priority.
@A_Philosopher@PhysInHistory Is it even remotely possible that you, Michael Perilstein, are failing to see something because you want to fail to see it?
@thecaravanindia Vijay’s entry into politics, if rewarded by the electorate, will set TN into its darkest phase ever. It’s unreasonable to argue for a third alternative in a state that has typically excelled in every social and economic parameter under the rule of the two major local parties.
