Partisan control of state supreme courts is on the line in two weeks in four states: Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio.
Nine seats are at play across those states.
And there are plenty of other judicial elections to watch. https://t.co/qutsp31oUm
Please read this important new report from the Illinois Network for Pretrial Justice! If you've heard about "the purge law," then you've seen this misinformation at work.
There are also excellent examples here of the role media can play in exposing the truth!
It's here! If you're wondering what the heck to do with all those judges on your Cook County ballot, @injusticewatch has got you covered: https://t.co/A1DZn0agrY #twill

We’ve put their lies under a microscope to help you separate fact from fiction.

In my latest for @injusticewatch I explore the Judicial Quality Act written by @ChicagoVotes and sponsored by @SenatorAquino. The bill hopes to increase training for Illinois judges on a number of topics including cultural competency and racial bias.

“Cook County, Illinois' chief judge announced Wednesday that criminal trials will resume with enhanced coronavirus safety measures at the end of March, about a year after the COVID-19 pandemic halted all jury trials in the county.” https://t.co/ATAbVKuVv8
We partnered with @Herbworthy and @crescolabs to show how the cash bail system criminalizes race, poverty, and cannabis. Swipe to see the disproportionate impact pretrial incarceration has on Black people. #BlackHistoryMonth
Out of 88,582 federal criminal defendants in 2019, only 1,954 of them went to trial.
Even fewer people had a trial by jury, although it is considered the fairest way to handle a case.
