@DrBradJohnson If only the bureaucracy of the system and the leaders believed in their teachers and the students. I would not have retired after 35 years. The hypocrisy of the School Board, superintendent, the top heavy District office was just too much. I hope people are listening to you!
@NicholasFerroni I know it well. Unfortunately, the negatives finally were too much. I am now an Exec. Assistant. I used to do good work, now I work well.
Leaders, relationships arenβt just about getting commitment from staff. Itβs knowing when staff leave exhausted, defeated, in tears, and sometimes feeling hopeless. Use those Relationships to build them up, let them know you have their back & even send a note of encouragement.
@sage_stage lol! Again, you must work at my school. A new teacher asked for help with high flyers. Admin: Write them up and we will take care of it. Teacher: writes up the same kids everyday this week. Admin: Crickets....
@edtechmathteach In FL. Not necessarily the weather, but it is a very long time without a break. It is also right after winter diagnostic when admin continues to tell us we are not doing enough. Ugh!
@DrBradJohnson Working with a new principal. Met with him weekly as Department Chair. Met with him bi weekly in our PLC. Met a few times one on one to try to discuss professional growth. Finally took another job, and when resigning, he asked, "Tell me again what you teach." Ridiculous
Effective leaders seek out ways to serve, even if it's hard, for the betterment of those they lead. Poor leaders seek out ways to control, because it's easy, even if it is to the detriment of those they lead. Be the effective leader.
