@harryhenry6@Exalted_Speed Not really too shocking, the only guy who seemed to be on a holy crusade when it came to never working at the big 2 again was Todd. Lee & Liefeld talked about maybe doing crossovers. Larsen said he was going to work on a Lobo mini(didnt happen) back during that 1st Imgae year.
@Exalted_Speed When that infamous Liefeld pin up debuted everyone went, 'wait, wtf?' The Lee side of things everyone was willing to give a break but the Liefeld books everyone had their knives out, starting with the eagle forehead redesign. Didn't help this was when Liefeld popularity imploded
@Exalted_Speed Didn't help he was trying to do Deathblow and Wildcats at the same time. That was madness. Jim Lee was never a 2 books a month guy. I have no idea why he thought he could make that work. He couldnt make Wildcats and Darker Image work and that was just 8 more pages a month
@Exalted_Speed No, Marvel would still do Mar Vell. But he'd have 3 appearances. 1-Introduction to kickstarts Carol's powers, 2- Nega Bands/Rick Jones/Thanos,3- Dies of cancer. Marvel can't help themselves, they'll want to do The Death of Captain Marvel all over again but now modernized.
@Farl12345@Exalted_Speed A collection of the world's smartest men continually fail to accomplish what they wanted to and not one of them noticed the problem and tried to stop or fix their actions as they kept making situations worse
@Exalted_Speed Alternatively he dies at the hands of Hux and other 1st Order officers in a military coup as the 1st Order destabilizes and falls apart with infighting.
@Exalted_Speed Immortal Spider-Man might just be the thing needed to get Spidey past all the lore problems he's accrued.
Also if USA Today is smart they'll use Nauck's picture of his Spiderverse cos play when it comes to credits. Todd looks eerily close to Peter B Parker.
@Exalted_Speed The biggest hump to get over was access. When Dredd came over you were only ever going to find him in certain comic shops. If Dredd was going to go big back in the day he needed to be in bookstores, 7-11s, supermarkets or
pharmacys.
@dormant000@Exalted_Speed Big name creators, big name characters, big things happening like deaths, covers/gimmicks, the story could actually be good, the story could pay off years of other stories. All of that plays into collector/speculation mindset.
@grouchyawards@Exalted_Speed The mystery was the big advertising push DC did for Long Halloween back in the day and it went over huge in Wizard and the comics press with guess the killer type break downs issue by issue.
And this is comics so if it works once its now your signature and has to be done again
@markriedel1977@Exalted_Speed It hasn't done anything wrong. He's playing it safe for the most part. Spider-Man in space was the big swing and it happened, its over, and his life is pretty much just the way he left it. They could mix it up a little and do something new like 6 weeks in space ruins his life
@Exalted_Speed I enjoy the idea that he's Batman's secret weapon. Theres sometimes that you just need something crazy to happen and Batman has Eel on speed dial
