@DruhFarrell There is only a small social safety net in AB. But warmth and shelter and compassion will eventually trickle down like Cons believe right?
Wise words from Brett shown here in front of a building he never enters (not for books anyway) on his super efficient ego-powered transportation device. Go Brett go!
@CBCEyeopener it’s good to know that other orgs are using grocery GCs to support kids - a method pioneered in YYC by @ican4kids last March. Ask about UofC study for more depth. It’s about food insecurity not just food provision.
@CBCEyeopener should talk to I Can for Kids director Bobbi Turko about their pivot last year to grocery gift cards. Brown Bagging isn’t the pioneer here... UofC research study on I Can for Kids’ approach on the impact of Grocery gift cards. Do your homework!
@KennyVLimaC@AdrianaLaGrange Exactly Ken. The problem with climate change is that is has been made into a political issue. The air we breathe and water we drink aren’t partisan. Are they? Also, the study of REAL politics does belong in the classroom. Again, critical thinking...
I’m no expert but the guy has a howdy doody smile throughout the interview. He always has that. It’s meant to communicate friendliness or approachability but I just find it duplicitous and creepy. And not genuine. Harper had a more subtle smirk - like he was hiding something.
@YMCA_Calgary donor breakfast about to begin... so honoured to have been asked to rebrand the Y’s major fundraising campaign. Big reveal coming... but first, great stories of philanthropy and impact in our community...
Been taking a break from all the politics. I’m not “inside” and I still get overwhelmed by the astounding stupidity and misogyny that appears to be rampant in the social-verse. We need fully funded and enlightened... and patience for some kind of magical generational flip.
@RachelNotley Seems like a plan on the part of the likes of those two to try and dumb down the next generation of voters. Because they know that really smart kids won’t vote for such dinosaurs.
@TerryAndryo@VillageJacks@villagebrewery Delivered - a hops box at your doorstep - albeit late-ish. Hope these hops can add to the Village Neighbour brew. I’d love to attend the launch - poke me when it’s happening?
Hops picking tomorrow! @villagebrewery@VillageJacks can we just swing by the brewery to drop off what we’ve picked from our yard in @killarneyyyc or is there a team in our hood to help? Community hall has a decent vine to pick too!
@TerryAndryo@VillageJacks@villagebrewery Okay - too bad I missed the team out in our hood. Would be great if we had some way of being “on the list” of harvest locations...
