150.000 signatures in support of holding a referendum to ban gender-sensitive language in Austria! I simply can’t get over the fact that people ask to be represented and so many others find it okay to say “No! Non-male people don’t deserve to be seen!”
So important! I’m also wondering about toxic positivity in language education. When we want students to build a positive connection and identity in a language or even to love a language while it may be associated with existential stress and anxieties.
Teachers who have engaged in language learning for leisure cannot immediately empathize with students who have to engage in language learning for survival.

@BerLinguistin Understand. Tricky. I think that quan is good at representing breadth; qual is better at representing depth, at understanding a phenomenon in its intricacies and complexities, which often gets smoothed out in quan research.
