I don't think rallying in support of a cruel and dying trade is going to leave a great impression with the community.
There's a reason over 70% of Australians support the phase out of live sheep exports. They’re sick of seeing the suffering it causes and they know there’s a better way.
It makes up less than 2% of Australia’s sheep meat exports, it damages our international reputation, and more sustainable, higher value alternatives are available.
But most of all, we owe the sheep a better deal than shipping them into some of the hottest places on earth to be slaughtered without stunning. They don’t deserve that.
This is why the legislation received overwhelming parliamentary support, beyond just the Labor Party.
I know why the Nationals are keen to support this rally but I think it’s a risk for farmers as it could make people question how much they care about animal welfare.
With chief Voice destroyer Jacinta Price claiming Indigenous voices are "crying out for Labor to listen" (yes, you read that correctly); it's worth remembering she is a front for US-style dark money group Advance, run by fossil fuels & mining $$$. (ICYMI): https://t.co/ul4fWUxQJD
The national tour to launch ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ has begun in Townsville with my sister, Tanya, and niece Elle at Mary Who? bookshop.
Thank you to everyone who came along, Ben Gertz, Chris Rollason and Michael Beale for speaking, and Jess Naunton for MC’ing.
Peter Dutton said “There will be no Makarrata, there will be no revisiting of truth-telling” under a government he leads.
He’s out of touch with a majority of Australians who, unlike him, appreciate the truth & what Makarrata stands for: peace & justice.
I’m sharing my deep admiration for Linda Burney as she chooses to slow down toward retiring from politics. She was too tough for the many racists and bigots who attacked her throughout her long and distinguished career. Her love for her people overwhelmed their hate ❤️
The return of cultural heritage material is deeply significant.
In this video, Senior Warumungu Elder Mr Michael Jones Jampijinpa, describes why today's Return of Warumungu treasures from the @FowlerMuseum at UCLA is so important.
Thank you for yarning with us Mr Jones. 🖤💛❤️
