@ONS has today released data showing excess mortality for March 2020 to June 2022.
ONS estimates 137,447 excess deaths in England & Wales. However excluding deaths involving Covid, there have been 31,397 FEWER deaths than expected. 1/n

There have been 9,354 ICU Covid patients since 1 May 2021, almost as many as in the first wave. 1,102 are still in ICU. 1/10
Estimates of hospitalisation or case rates for unvaccinated people depend crucially on estimates of the size of the population, which are highly uncertain. Comparisons of such rates by vaccine status are open to misinterpretation and deliberate misuse.

1,270 more deaths were recorded compared to the 2015-19 year average. That’s 14% higher.
Year-to-date there have been 364,655 deaths recorded; 8% higher than the 2015-19 average.
SARS-CoV-2 variants technical briefing 21 was published today.
Hospitalisation and death rates are shown for people aged 50 plus with the Delta variant, split by vaccination status.
These rates are 11 times higher among the unvaccinated than in the fully vaccinated 1/3
