BREAKING: The CEO of @Hertz wrote a letter to Puerto Rico‘s representative in Congress stating that Hertz has rewritten its policy to make it abundantly clear that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory - not a foreign country - & because of that Puerto Rico driver’s licenses are not international IDs they are just as valid as any ID from any state in this union. This news follows the story I first reported last week, where a Puerto Rican man at the New Orleans international airport was denied a rental car because at least two Hertz workers said his license was international. On top of that, the man who recorded the incident, had the police called on him by a Hertz employee who said he can never rent from Hertz again because he recorded the incident. *She was wrong; he can rent from Hertz again*. The police officer who responded to the call was dismissive and rude and is now the subject of an internal investigation by his police department because the customer, Mr. Humberto Marchand, filed a complaint with the @KennerPolice. Following our report, Representative @Jenniffer wrote a letter to Hertz asking for a companywide educational campaign, and she got it.
Lastly: Puerto Ricans are United States citizens. Please share.
Congressional Republicans claim their debt limit hostage-taking is motivated by concerns about fiscal responsibility.
But new CBO estimates show their plan to extend the Trump tax cuts without paying for them would add $3.5 trillion to the debt over the next 10 years.
Oops!
Dear Republicans,
If you don’t like a trans woman being featured on a can of Bud Light, don’t drink Bud Light.
If an M&M in sneakers offends you, don’t eat M&Ms. If Cracker Jill hurts your feelings, don’t eat that stuff either.
If you don’t like the fact that Target sells LGBTQ+ merchandise, don’t shop there.
And if Amanda Gorman’s famous poem, “The Hill We Climb” upsets you, then don’t read it.
The point is that no one is forcing you to do any of that shit. But YOU don’t get to decide if the rest of us can.
Former President Obama just summed up the Gun debate in under a minute:
"I think somehow — and there are a lot of historical reasons for this — gun ownership in this country became an ideological issue, and a partisan issue, in ways that it shouldn't be. It has become sort of a proxy for arguments about our culture wars, you know? Urban versus rural. Race is always an element in these issues. Issues of class and education, and so forth.
Instead of just taking a very practical approach, like we do, let's say, for example, with car safety, where we say, 'All right, we got a bunch of accidents. Let's have seat belts. And let's make cars safer. And let's engineer our roads so that we prevent them. Instead of thinking about it in a very pragmatic way, we end up really arguing about identity, and emotion, and all kinds of stuff that does not have to do with keeping our children safe."
I'd love to hear both sides of the political spectrum weigh in on this clip.
@RealCandaceO Mmm well not true there are families of families plus according to the Bible men and women should leave their home and start their own families...
I just want to give a SHOUT OUT to a very popular local Ice Cream parlor here in Fort Myers, called Love Boat. Note that our county has nearly twice as many registered Republicans than Democrats, so this deserves even more praise.
Instead of two restrooms, one designated for men and another for women, they simply have two restrooms with this sign next to both.
I feel this is a great solution to the transgender bathroom debate, and if one of the most popular Ice Cream parlors in one of the most Red Districts in Florida can do this, anyone can. Their homemade ice cream is amazing by the way.
