@PatMcAfeeShow —
After a 6-hour surgery to remove a sarcoma from his shoulder, the first thing @TreGarzel asked for was your show. He even knew the exact minute he paused before anesthesia.
It would mean the world to him if he could get a little love from the show ❤️

GPT-5.1 Pro is rolling out today to all Pro users.
It delivers clearer, more capable answers for complex work, with strong gains in writing help, data science, and business tasks.
Elon Musk came up with a pretty incredible idea during the Q3 Earnings Call, that no one is really talking about.
His words: “Actually, one of the things I thought, if we've got all these cars that maybe are bored, while they're sort of, if they are bored, we could actually have a giant distributed inference fleet and say, if they're not actively driving, let's just have a giant distributed inference fleet.
At some point, if you've got tens of millions of cars in the fleet, or maybe at some point 100 million cars in the fleet, and let's say they had at that point, I don't know, a kilowatt of inference capability, of high-performance inference capability, that's 100 gigawatts of inference distributed with power and cooling taken, with cooling and power conversion taken care of. That seems like a pretty significant asset.”
So basically, each car has ~1 kilowatt of high-performance AI inference capability, Tesla wouldn’t need to build giant data centers — the fleet is the data center.
Tesla could turn their entire fleet into a giant distributed inference network, spread across the world, powered by the batteries and AI in the car already.
Mind blown.
Today we are launching my favorite feature of ChatGPT so far, called Pulse. It is initially available to Pro subscribers.
Pulse works for you overnight, and keeps thinking about your interests, your connected data, your recent chats, and more. Every morning, you get a custom-generated set of stuff you might be interested in.
It performs super well if you tell ChatGPT more about what's important to you. In regular chat, you could mention “I’d like to go visit Bora Bora someday” or “My kid is 6 months old and I’m interested in developmental milestones” and in the future you might get useful updates.
Think of treating ChatGPT like a super-competent personal assistant: sometimes you ask for things you need in the moment, but if you share general preferences, it will do a good job for you proactively.
This also points to what I believe is the future of ChatGPT: a shift from being all reactive to being significantly proactive, and extremely personalized.
This is an early look, and right now only available to Pro subscribers. We will work hard to improve the quality over time and to find a way to bring it to Plus subscribers too.
Huge congrats to @ChristinaHartW, @_samirism, and the team for building this.
Many people wonder what is the benefit of training video gen models. Video gen by itself doesn’t necessarily seem to provide as much raw intelligence to users as modern LLMs.
However, in the long term, video gen models will be used as neural simulations of the universe within which we can train agents to explore and learn from information rich environments. There are many open problems to solve, but if it works, we’ll eventually have entire datacenters simulating the universe to train superintelligence. If you’d like to join us @xAI to push the frontier of world models / video gen, please reach out!
