The court must consider Lowe’s family’s position that “when the officers first approached Lowe he did not appear to be armed, and that the officers began the encounter by dumping Lowe from his wheelchair onto the ground,” the judge’s ruling says.

A jury will decide whether officers used unreasonable force in the fatal shooting of Anthony Lowe, an LA County judge ruled.

The ruling allows for a civil trial, set for Jan. 12, 2026.

The LA County DA’s Office told me the shooting “is under review.”
