So amazing to have @10Carden’s social finance work, including the 10C Community Bonds, Nourish by 10C and @HarvestImpactGW with @OurFoodFuture featured in @futureofgood. The future is social. The future is circular. Investing in positive change locally matters. @guelph#socfin
2/3 of Canadian charities reported an average 30% revenue drop, over the last year. 📉
To rebuild after the pandemic, organizations will need to experiment with innovative new ways to mobilize social finance and build community wealth.

What appears to be a duplex is an 8plex. From a public realm contextual street interface, you would never be able to tell. What traditionally is a single-family home and could have been a duplex now allows for four three-bed houses and four one-bedroom houses. This can’t happen fast enough across N.A. #missingmiddlehousing
I’m not up for a King of Canada. We really need to grow up and take the training wheels off in this country. It’s a waste of time and money and it’s time for Canada to rocket into the 21st century and get rid of these traditions mired in many things we wouldn’t stand for today.
Yes! Everything @ImmyKaur notes is true in the Canadian context. We have trained ourselves to look in short term cycles, when challenges and opportunities to solve them require long term thinking and practice.
If you don’t get into 10-15 year demonstration funding over long term you know like least £1-2 million per year quickly:
+ people will give up and do consultancy that pays better, + you don’t have to do the hard yards of being embedded.
+ we will lose learning, and discovery ..
There’s lots of entry points into this work, great writing, synthesising, administration, operations, it’s that couple of deep years to get up close + personal into the work, that could be the whole journey, or the start of deeper building + crafting of systems, structures + more
It was a pleasure to meet with The Honourable Marci Ien @MarciIen and MP @LloydLongfield at 10C yesterday. Wonderful discussion about food (access, equity, sovereignty), systems change, women, social finance, community development, and the commitment at all levels for change.
10C — the hub for community, connection and change here in #Guelph.
Many local organizations started here, like Food Uniting Neighbours (FUN) where the work is rooted in real people, real food, and real change.

I sincerely hope this is a learning and teaching opportunity for every Canadian - individual, household, school and institution. In @cityofguelph there is a Reflection Garden along the River at the Boathouse to help us remember this tragedy. #Dec6 https://t.co/Zbh6hjjLkf
The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility.
Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it.

Tonight, I get to be a human with interests other than social change, place-based community finance, and the circular food economy! Going to Arabella Park with my crew for beer and fries and then to see STARS in Waterloo!!! @youarestars, so very excited. https://t.co/7h4f4MgbQo
This is 💔. My daughter’s entire high school path been disrupted. If the teachers union was in solidarity w @CUPEOntario then they would instruct their people 2 refuse to teach virtually. See how long @fordnation can hold the line when kids aren’t learning at all. #GeneralStrike
Parents, teachers, students, concerned citizens. The future of EDUCATION is at risk. We still have a VOICE even when it seems no one is listening. @MikeSchreiner@onpoli
It makes no sense to say education workers are too important to allow them to strike, but not valuable enough to pay a living wage. The hypocrisy is a policy choice.
